Probrems on staying lucid and the chaining technique

Hello people, how you doin’?
So, let me introduce myself: my name is Eduardo, or the equivalent of Edward in Brasil. Just call me ed.
So, I’ve been praticing lucidity since the beginig of this year, and I started to have LDs from april on. Obviously, my firsts LDs lasted minutes, if not seconds. Problem is, this is persisting, except for one time that I had a dream in which I stayed lucid for what I think it was 30 min.
Aside from that, all my LDs are really short. They don’t usually stop out of nowhere, they start to fade away slowly, and everything gets black.
One or two times I was able to revert this process by shouting ‘Clarity now!’, by rubbing my hands, but the dream ended soon after that, and I woke up.
Also, sometimes I just bliked, and when I opend my eyes again, I simply woke up.
So, I think thats about it. When you guys were starting to have lucid dreams, did some of those things happend? Or do they still happen?
One more question… I read a topic about a technque called chaining, but I didin’t understand how it works… you wake up and sleep again to start another dream?
That’s it… Hope the post isn’t too long. See ya.

hello ed,
well yesss ive had problems with short dreams and prolonging them too. For example in one of my lucid dreams i was blinking too much and then i blinked again and i was in my bed. I yelled in my mind NOOOO! haahah. I think the duration of the lucid dream might also have to do with how far in you are in your REM sleep. I LOVE the rubbing hands together— that works so well… and as for chaining i have done that once or rather a DEILD – and i actually did it on accident. What happened was i had a ND but then it slowly faded into the darkness, i had then gained consiousness but did not move my eyes or body. I then said something like i will have a lucid dream-- and i instantly fell back asleep, i found myself in the same scene and i thenn exclaimed im dreaming!!! i actually accomplished alot in that LD too

Have you tried spinning around in a circle? It really helped me when I realized I was in a dream and panicked…

Essentially practise will make perfect. What you need to do is to just relax when you do achieve lucidity and to focus on your dream enviroment. It’s about interacting and using your senses to keep the dream world going, since it essentially revolves around you.

Chaining is an excellent technique. This is especially the case when you’ve woken up from a lucid dream since it’s very easy to remember to keep still.
Essentially you wake up and DONT move your body or your eyes, just remain still and you’ll go into SP, just keep relaxed and you’ll enter into another LD. There have been cases where people have chained 4-5 times, which is amazing.
I’ve done it myself once or twice and I’ve always been quite bad at WILD so it’s very easy

Yeah, chaining is a great technique
I use it after most of my LDs. When the dream fades out I don’t move or open my eyes and usually after a short while a new dream begins to form. Then i virtually stand up into it and find myself in my room or at the same place the previous dream ended. I can usually have 3-6 LDs in a row this way :woo:

For staying in the dream I think the most useful techniques are those involving hands, like looking at them, rubbing them or grabbing things from the ground and examining them. I use the last one a lot lately, even small objects can reveal incredible details  Also focusing on your near surroundings works well

@lisa, I once tried the spinnig araound, but I suddenlly woke up. Thought it was a FA, but it wasn’t.
About, the chaining, I definitely gonna try it. Sounds promising. Never trying holding dream objects, that’s an excellent idea…
Well, thanks for the info people, see ya
