Yesterday I feel like I was close to a WILD. My mom came home late, and as she was entering the house I felt more relaxed, I’d been in the same position for a little while when I started to notice the images in front of me. No real pictures, but colors and shapes forming, I was admiring them while feeling very close to falling asleep. I waited a little while, hoping for something more, when they disappeared. I laid still for a little while, hoping to get them again, but eventually I had to move.
Progress. I feel like I was very close to HI. Any tips on what I should think about or not think about when attempting WILD and this happens again?
Edit: While watching the shapes and colors I could feel my eyes moving. Is this normal? I thought REM occurred after a while…
REM occurs at certain points during the night. If you are doing this right as you go to bed, you probably aren’t going to hit REM any time soon. You may start to get similar occurances that you look for during WILD, but it’s unlikely that you could actualy get through.
Your body has to go through deep sleep. While you do have an REM cycle or two near the beginning, they are pretty short and again deep sleep usually comes first. MILD tends to be more effective at the beginning, WILD later on after you’ve already gone through deep sleep and the other light sleep cycles. If you wake up in the morning and have a chance to go back to sleep, that’s the best time to do it. A lot of us wil actually set alarms or use autosuggestion to wake up at about 5-6 hours after first going to bed. Your chances of success are much higher here.
I see…I’m going through auto-suggestion every few days. Waking up at 5.
But I did feel my eyes moving uncontrollably under my eyelids. Only for a short period of time though. It was kinda cool actually
