Prolonging LD's

Hmm, i had a harry potter LD 2 nights ago, and in that LD i realized that the less you use your LD powers, the longer you stay asleep.Like I knew it was a dream, but i just left it as A harry potter dream, because i luv harry potter.(The dream lasted like 40 min in dream time.)In the dream i thought " i wanna try an OOBE, but then thought “Nah, it’ll probably wake me up.” And i kinda tryed to use as little LD power as possible.Like when i forgot the name of a spell, instead of making it up, because i know im dreaming, i ask my friend in the dream what the name is.In other words, i think if you just change the dream to a good setting, it will last longer the less you think about it being a dream and doing whatever you want.

I used to have experiences like this too. If you more or less “go with the flow” of the dream it seems to remain stable for an incredibly long time.

I think once my mind got used to the fact that I was going to fly into the heavens or leap across landscapes, regardless of the consequences, it sort of “allowed” me to do so over a longer period of time (without the threat of waking from the dream).

Also, If you do want to use your LD control more and are afraid of waking up, just remember that a little willpower can go a long way. When the dream scene begins to fade I usually clench my fists and either demand the dream to return or simply ask it to (albeit frantically). I’ve also just read about some other techniques like spinning or rubbing your hands which I plan on trying next chance I get.

Sometimes allowing a dream to run its course without your (direct) input can be just as rewarding (visually and thematically) as bending it to your will. The choice is really yours in the end, just remember to have fun!
