Q: Summoning what you are looking for in LDs.

Hey there guys, I thought I’d ask you all for some help with this. I’ve had this happen before as well.

This previous night I had a LD and was largely satisfying in and of itself, but the problem was I couldn’t manage to summon anything. I was trying to summon a friend so I tried knocking on a house on a street and calling their name, but they didn’t answer.

I tried asking a guy in a windowed cafe and he told me to follow any tank to the next village! I couldn’t see any tanks so I asked him where to find the tanks and he told me to follow a Volvo, I flew after it for a second, but I realized that it might not lead me where I want and time is precious right? So I spotted a gas station with nobody in it. I busted in and picking up the phone I asked for them, but it just played some music at me.

All in all, I’ve seemed to be successful in interacting with the environment presented to me, but I’m just asking for tips on how to summon the people or objects that I want or tips on traveling to those things that I want.

Well my friend, it’s a bit tricky for some, and for others it comes as easily as snapping your fingers. Many things can effect it; your degree of lucidity (Have you utter and complete control of the dream? Are you fuzzy headed, or clear?), your confidence (Do you KNOW you can do these things, or do you just want them?), and amount of practice (It is a new skill your learning!).

My suggestions are keep trying, have utter confidence in yourself (KNOW you can, don’t wish you can!), and make sure you are completely clear and lucid in your dreams.

Hope this helps! :colgate:

Edit: For traveling, try the mirror technique; go to a mirror and imagine where you want to be. Tell yourself that on the other side of the mirror is that place. Then, step through the mirror and expect to be enter into that area.

Hey Wishbone,

I think how you summon things is very personal. And it has to do with experience as well. I use the “Q” technique. (From the famous Star Trek Character). I can snap my fingers and (most of the time ) what I wish will appear.

I am by no means a natural lucid dreamer, but once I truly get fully lucid, anything is possible for me. For me, all I have to do is think about whatever I want to happen and it happens instantly. A few examples from my LD last night; I was in a room full of people and I wanted them to all leave so I just simply said to myself in my head “everyone in this room dissapear NOW”, and they instantly were gone. I also summoned several objects/people by doing the same method. Once you’re FULLY lucid it’s really like the Matrix. Think about what morpheus said in one of those movies, “Don’t think you are, KNOW you are”. If you want a scenario/person/object to appear, just think about it and know that it will happen because it is your own mind controlling the dream anyway. You make the descisions about how an LD unfolds (even if you don’t realize it), you don’t have to walk through a door or something else like that, just think about it happening and it will. I also sometimes say what I want out loud (for instance if I want to freak out dream characters or something) and it works just as well. For example I could say to a dream character “watch this, I can make this dude die just by saying it”, and then I can point to the DC I want to kill and just say “DIE” and he will die. Same with summoning people/objects (for me anyway).

As the others have said, if you know something will happen it will happen.

The difficult thing though (or so I’ve always found), is actually making yourself believe that something will happen. After all, for our whole lives we’ve learnt through experience that the world follows certain physical laws. Since LD’s feel a lot like real life, it’s difficult to truly believe that it will be different (even though we may know in theory that it is). This problem lessens as you become more experienced with LDs (and have plenty of evidence to make yourself believe something will happen), but until then there are some tricks which can make the process seem more realistic and believable, and hence easier to do.

Two simple things I would recommend would be to try turning round, and expecting to find your friend behind you when you turn back, or to try coming to a doorway and expecting them to be on the other side. Anything like this should help, the key is in making it more realistic and believable.

Good luck!

[EDIT]

This is very true, but if you’re having trouble with this then I’d recommend trying something like walking through a door, just to make it more realistic and believable.

imagined the object in a box, and shake the box and hear it shaking and feel it bouncing around and open it to find the object there.

I would say it’s mainly due to experience-in my case anyway. It took me a while to be able to make people appear at will-it almost always works now but at the beginning nothing would happen. Now I just order someone to get the person or imagine them being round the corner-which never used to work but now it nearly always does. It took me ages to do everything e.g-have a LD in the first place (it took me so long I never thought I’d get one) and then to control it well. What can I say, I must be a slow learner
But yeh just keep trying- think of a way the person/object could fit into your dream. Like, you go outside your house and your friend has come to ask you to hang out-something like that.
