Question about a lucid dream character

Hello  I’m pretty new to lucid dreaming I went from having zero of them to having 10 and I want to keep increasing my lucidity while dreaming. Well last night I become lucid in a dream and I was exploring abandoned buildings and I see these two men a little distance ahead of me. I walk over to them because I wanted to have a conversation. I walk over and i say hello do you guys know that you are within a dream right now? And the one guy laughs but the other guy says “oh hello do you know I can kill you right now? And he pulls out a knife and starts attacking me. I’m wondering what this dream character represented?

I dont know! how did it feel? did you feel pain? DCs can tell us about ourselves, our psyche

I didn’t feel pain I actually kicked his ass! I wasn’t even scared. But shocked that he pulled a knife out of thin air :stuck_out_tongue: I was wondering if the dream character itself represents a part of me? Maybe repressed anger?

Without knowing you very well and what your dreams are usually like, my guess would rather be “impulsiveness“. That’s the first thing that came to my mind reading your post. Can you relate to that?

God yes. I am quite impulsive!

So this stuff happens to me as well. I’ve learned to never tell a DC that they are in a dream when I am lucid.

First off, they usually attack me… IF that doesn’t happen they just don’t believe me and get upset and it ends up being a waste of good LD time!

So, I am still new to LD I only have 28 under my belt. I have found that there are certain rules in my dreams. Like this one, if I tell a DC that this is a dream I get attacked. No matter the circumstance, and I’ve tried to break this rule but it turns out to just waste a good LD! So the DC might not represent anything could just be one of your rules? Or he might not like being called fake :joy: I know I wouldn’t!

@LucidWilliam I kinda have a habit of being attacked, but never from telling a DC they’re in a dream lol. That’s pretty funny, I wonder how my DC 's will react after reading that. If anything they shrug it off or go into a trance.

@Shae I initially thought it was your subconscious preparing you for fight or flight situations with the world being on edge and all.

I read before in lucid dreaming books characters don’t like being told they are in a dream! Haha honestly it could just be one of the rules. I kinda just walked over and interrupted their conversation and then preceded to tell him his whole life is a lie so I guess I do understand his point of view lol

Interestingly with me, while most of my characters dont seem to understand what a dream even is and seem somehow dulled in their self-awareness, i have a select few characters which are the exact opposite- they know full-well i’m dreaming and can speak intelligently about lucidity. I wonder if that’s due to the idea that part of my psyche knows its dreaming, so it manifests in the dream characters themselves. I always know them apart because there’s something more alive in their gaze, and the way they talk with a smile on their lips, its weird. i wonder, might all lucid dreamers have one or two characters in their mind like this? it would be interesting for you guys to test it and find out!
