Question about False Awakenings

Last night I had a False Awakening - AGAIN, this is the third time in just two weeks! - and I knew from the start that I was dreaming and I tried to be careful so as not to wake up.
I couldn’t really affect my surroundings that much, but I know it was a dream, since I woke up somewhere else and the time on my watch kept changing etc.

My question here is - are False Awakenings something you recommend investing time on?
It seems like they are considered an inconvenience by some LD practicioners, but I was always aware that I was dreaming, and I think I’ll just need to practice in order to become better at affecting things;
but are they worth it?
Is it harder to control False Awakenings?
Because it seems like I’ve started to have them spontaneously now, so it would be perfect for me to use them.

If you know you are dreaming during a FA, it’s a LD. It’s just an inconvenience when you don’t realise that you’re dreaming. In my experience it’s just as good or maybe even better than having a LD through using MILD. Usually the LDs you get from FA don’t last very long but they are very vivid though. Also, I tend to recall those LD’s much much much better than ones I get in the middle of the night.

I’d say, definitely use your natural ability to have FA’s to your advantage. Free LDs for you. :happy:

FA’s are just like any other dreamscape, so nothing wrong with them as long as they dont trick you. Mostly they just occur because you were thinking about (not) waking up or were fearing you’ll wake up. Since dreamscenes are directly affected by our thought, FAs are they most common dreamscene in LDs.

FA’s are awesome, but the first thing I always should do is going to an unfamiliar place. For some reason, I can’t do anything nice when I’m in my own house . So usually i simply go outside and take a walk.
FA’s make my LD’s more vivid and therefore I made it a habit to do an rc when waking up - I wouldn’t want to miss a great LDing oppurtunity !

Thank you. :smile:

Yeah it seems like FA lucids are what I should primarily focus on;
however, the only problem is that I don’t really know how I actually got them in the first place, because they seem to come kind of spontaneously, and I have no idea when it will happen again (I certainly hope that my last ones weren’t just luck :tongue:).
I do seem to get them when I wake up in the middle of the night and instantly fall asleep again, though.
Maybe this is simply because of the fact that it’s much easier to get LDs during naps and when you wake up and fall asleep again?
Could you please help me with this as well? :eh:
Because I’d really like to have some idea of what exactly I should do to have some control over them, because right now it feels like I can just fall asleep and hope that I wake up in a FA again “sometime in the future”. :peek:

Just in on my first LD i had about 10 FA just then. As far as i know it mainly happens in low lucid dreams.

Yeah, well it seems to happen kind of randomly for me.
I mean I’ve certainly made progress and everything, considering the fact I had no real personal experience at all of “real” lucid dreams just three weeks ago and now I suddenly have two False Awakenings on average per week :lol: - but I don’t seem to have any real control over them (which by the way is a little frustrating since I can never be sure to get them again; every FA feels like my last one - it’s kind of like winning at the lottery several times, I always have that feeling that I’m just temporarily lucky and that my luck with these FA lucids could permanently run out at anytime).
Also for some reason I keep having these False Awakenings but still never seem to actually “become lucid” in regular dreams.

My False Awakenings are a bit strange in nature as well - I move remarkably slower, they are usually kind of dark and they seem to end kind of quickly (although I usually only move slowly the first minute or so). :razz:
It’s also bugging me a bit that I can’t seem to affect them that much.

I guess my point here is that I want to be able to more directly affect their frequency (rather than just “hoping” to get them) and actually be able to manipulate them as well.

FA’s are badass! Make the best of them.

I know that they definitely help me in becoming lucid. I also noticed when doing wake back to bed in the morning, I tend to have quite a bit of FA.

Yeah, I think it’s the same for me.
Most of the False Awakenings I have experienced so far have started when I’ve fallen asleep early, woken up early, and then instantly fallen asleep again. :slight_smile:
