Does SP occur only when you’re entering REM sleep or does it occur right away when you first fall asleep?
I’ve been trying to nap a lot today to see if I can get into SP just to see what it’s like and I haven’t gotten there yet, any help?

i dunno, but i think i had sleep paraylis after 30 minutes of sleep. I started having a lucid dream(i know that quickly) but it wasnt that dreamy, it was becomeming more and more dreamier then i woek up(i decided to) I couldnt move a muscle. blah blah blah then i really woke up. I dunno if it was fake SP(if possible)or real… but…yeah
Were you napping? or did it happen during the night?
OMG, it’s such a quick question about SP, why doesn’t anybody answer!!!
I was just napping.
SP do only occur during REM sleep, but you often end up in REM sleep during naps. Try to get someone to wake you up 5-6 hours after you’ve fallen asleep, or find some other way (No alarms!). The reason why SP most of the time occurs after a lucid dream is because the reason you wake up is cause you’re lucid, you do something wrong in your dream like blinking or so and accidentaly opens your RL eyes waking you up.
I woke up about 20 minutes ago…I’m thinking it should be a good time to try WILD or something…problem is, I’m not that tired right now, should I try anyway?
Try it!
I did, lol.
I get to part when my body feels numb and that’s it. When my body feels numb I’m always thinking, “Is my body asleep now? how long until I hit the REM cycle?”
I think REM is like 6 hours after you first go to sleep…?
Well, the “best” REM cycle is 5 to 6 hours you go to sleep, but the first REM cycle which is 90 minutes after you go to sleep only lasts about 5 to 10 minutes, that’s the whole point of WBTB.
I didn’t know there was one early than 5 hours.Hmmm.
Lol, everything got off-topic for a minute.
I still don’t know the answer to the million dollar question!!!
If I’m trying WILD, and I have to wait till I get to the first REM cycle, how will I know if my body is asleep and the “timer” is counting down?
You don’t just lie there in your bed and waiting for your REM cycle lol In WILD you don’t actually go directly from waken state to dream state, there’s actually some time between (Light sleep & Deep sleep). So when you do WILD you actually do fall asleep, but you won’t notice it cause it’s no REM sleep and you won’t be dreaming, it seems like seconds only and BAM you are in the REM cycle. The thing is to enter the first stage of sleeping so you get on the path or else you’ll never reach the REM stage.
A good thing would be to visualize on an object, like a lightswitch or a lamp, and just daydream a bit, then after a while (5-10 minutes for some, 20-30 for others like me) simply try to turn on the light.
When you say turn on the light, you mean visualize yourself turning it on, or do you actually stick your real arm out and turn it on? (With your eyes still closed)
Still kinda confused…
