i had a long break in LD (about half a year). now i’m back! and recently i’m improving my dream recall which is actually quite good now.
but the problem is that i have dreams that are so so long and vivid and full-of-story or whatever. that when i wake up from such a dream it’s almost impossible to remember it all. i usually end up with writing only about one detail, one plot and nothing more.
to sum up: my dreams are just to long to remember.
This may sound stupid, but try writing it down in the present tense. This helps me a lot as it lets me re-live the dream, so I keep on remembering what happens next.
There’s no such thing as a dream which is “too long to remember.” Everyone’s dreams are roughly the same length. You just need to improve your DR some more.
Since REM can be about an hour long in your last hours of sleep, you’re almost definitely not going to remember your entire dream until after a while longer of practicing DR. Unless you’re deprived of sleep or something.
Well, I’ll disagree with dream lengths. It’s true that real time will be roughly the same, but some dreams will simply have vastly more content than others. Our members have also found that it appears time can be perceived differently while in the dream, so it is possible to lose details as you go
In regards to the OP, keep great detail in your DJ. Start with as far back in the dream as yoh remember and write down any shards that are on their own. That’ll help long term recall and may help you remember more of the dream.
I haven’t really thought of that. It may be very useful as I always write down my dreams in past tenses. Thanks!
I guess so! But this is a really frustrating feeling, when you wake up from a really long and vivid dream. And since you wake up you can’t remember everything. the story is just to complicated…
Thanks! That seems really helpful. I’ll stick a bit with improving my dream recall. Anyway I hope it won’t disturb my wbtb’s.
