Rain and Dreaming

Tonight, I noticed it would be raining and the first thought that popped into my head was, “Yay! I’m going to have a lucid dream!”

For some reason, I always have really vivid and interesting dreams when it rains and it got me to wondering, is this true for anyone else? Or is this just because I have an absurdly fervent love of rain? :wnvoss:

White noise helps one clear his mind and focus, and rain is just one of the best white noises there is. ^^
Many use the sound of rain to relax, or for any activity where they require a degree of concentration, and the best site I’ve found so far for the purpose would be rainymood.com . Go give it a try! :content:

I’ve never looked for a correlation…maybe I should start keeping track of weather in my notes. same goes with things like the moon phase…never keep track or look for correlations.

but also if you feel that you LD more often with rain, then of course that is helpful!

Hmm, I’ve never actually noticed how (and if) rain influences my dreams or not. I do find it relaxing at night, though. Same goes for moon phases. My watch actually displays those, so it wouldn’t be too hard to keep track of that.

Sometimes I use the sound of the rain to relax. As tosxyChor said, it’s a great kind of white noise. I’ll try keeping track of it.

Hm. I suppose weather can influence a persons dreams, but it really depends on the person. I know for myself, I can hardly sleep when it rains let alone dream. Really hates the noise

I can listen to rain at nighttime with my window open it does relax me , But I do love the absolute quiet of the night, It enables me to hear some rather different sounds :content:

Yeah. I like night with no rain. Or wind. Or thunder. Of freaky noises.

Now i’m thinking about it, as far as i can remember it never rained in my dreams ! That’s so strange ! The next time that i have a lucid dream i’m gonna make it rain and report here how that felt haha :content:

I love it when it’s raining IRL. It’s so calming, even with thunder and lightening. I never thought of trying to associate it with my LD’s, but I bet it would be a good aid. Anywho, it’s not really a rainy time of year here in Texas (at least not this year), but in the spring I’ll really have to look into it…

I’ve never noticed a correlation either, but I think I’ll start looking for one :content:.

I enjoy the sound of rain as well, and it always makes me more relaxed. If it also helps with LD’s, even better!

I love listening to the rain in the dark, but I’ve never actually payed attention to its effect on dreams. Something I’ll make note of in the near future.

I’ve noticed that when it rains or thunderstorms I have much more vivid dreams and generally recall more. I remember reading a thread on here a year or two ago where someone said that the day after a thunderstorm a lot more people at school had remembered their dreams. I, myself, greatly love rain and it saddened me that there were so few thundershowers this year, maybe only a couple.

It’s raining tonight here so I’m going to see exactly how much it’ll affect my dreams.
