So last night I had a dream and I thought something was wrong about where I was, so I did an RC. I looked at my hands, and all my fingers were there etc., I couldn’t breath when I held my nose and I couldn’t push my finger through my hand. Even after that I was still doubting whether it was a dream or not so I did another RC, and STILL everything was fine!
Can anyone tell me what’s going on? Because things aren’t meant to work like that in dreams if I’ve done my research correctly. Also if there is another way to become lucid without doing RC’s that would be good to know. Thanks
I’m really shocked that the nose pinch didn’t work! My dream breathing has always been tightly tied to my actual breathing. For example, if I go to bed with my face on a pillow, I find that I can breathe through only one nostril in the dream. I had always assumed that there was a tight physiological link here. This is a bit of a disturbing report.
The finger-through-palm has always worked for me too. For that one, you’ve got to really believe that it’s going through. Give it a serious push.
They just fail sometimes. Your brain models reality well in fact just last night the finger through the palm failed me. As others have said, believe that they will work.
Thanks you guys ^^ Haha I thought this was only happening to me, good to know it’s not That explains it, I have been doubting that RC’S really work lately, so thanks again
Your brain is used to how reality works, so it will assume a lot of things even in dreams.
Do not be surprised if your first lucid dreams are treacherously logical.
The best way to get around this is probably to look intently on details that you are familiar with in real life - is your house a different colour for no real reason?
Do the doors in your house suddenly look different?
Look for subtle details like these.
Also do a lot of Reality Checks - if you’re dreaming then you will almost certainly succeed with at least one RC at some point.
