Rebound Insomnia from failed WILD

Anyone else get this or is it just me? Whenever I end up with a failed WILD experience it generally seems to end with big rushes o f something or even nothing but then I feel wide wide awake. This is strange going from being very tired to so very awake, it then takes a few hours or more to get back to that level of sleepiness.

I find it very irritating when I need to be asleep and well rested for something and this prevents it

This happens to me once and a while. I get soooo close to a WILD that I get very excited, then I fail to successfully WILD and I am stuck with being to awake because I got too excited.

Hmm that probably has a lot to do with it, maybe some sort of adrenaline dump perking me right up, weird how long it takes to get tired again though

Indeed, there’s nothing worse than insomnia.

ive been experiencing this lately too. ive been trying WILD the past few days and since u have to do it usually after about 6 hours of sleep its very hard to fall asleep if u try for an hour and are unsucessful. usually ill just lay there and not come close to falling asleep at all.

it actually benefitted me today…i woke up after 6 hours of sleep around 8am. WILD was unsucessful for over an hour. then i couldnt fall asleep at all. eventually i passed out and had a quick LD which was exciting. i guess with it on your mind for that long it falling asleep turns into a WBTB…gunna see if it works again tonight

I hear that and can totally sympathize with fellow insomniacs.

Anyway, (and this is just a guess) when you are practicing WILD you are altering your state of consciousness (even if you fail to WILD) and that might be what is keeping you up. After trying WILD for X amount of time if you are not successful then try to let go of the thought of WILD ing, give yourself a MILD suggestion then just focus on your breathing or use a progressive relaxation technique. Hopefully that will help you get back to sleep. A good side effect of this is that you may still become lucid later in the night.

Good idea, I have a hard time getting to sleep. I get excited to remember my dreams and I don’t fall asleep until 2 am and then I wake up around 10 or 11 am, sometimes 2pm and I just wasted half my day away. I like to be awake during the day. And so I feel guilty. I just lay awake daydreaming until I fall asleep, but still no use. I need to just let go of the thought and concentrate on my breathing. I’m going to try it tonight.

Edit - It worked! I can finally sleep! Yay!
