Recalling dreams from your first 5-6 hours of sleep

Hey guys, just up doing a WBTB and hanging around the forum. I was just typing down my nights dreams. There were about four of them. I can remember only fragments from each, even though in each one i remember thinking to myself how important it was that i remember the progress that i made. Do you guys normally remember your dreams in the first 5-6 hours of sleep very well??? Or is it more common to remember the rest of your hours of sleep dreams better. I’ll post my progress up later when i can fully remember everything! Hopefully…

Personally, I remember dreams from later in the night better. This might be because I usually wake up naturally after 4-5 hours of sleep and write every dream I had up to that time, thus clearing my head a little, and then I go back to sleep and dream more. Also, I understand that REM periods are longer in the later sleep stages, thus allowing for more lengthy and vivid dreams.

Ya, i’m trying to figure out if the reason i have trouble remembering those dreams is because i have more dreams inbetween waking up and the time I had them. Thus, fogging my memory of them. Or because they are so short and chaotic due to the short REM periods.

I don’t normally remember any of those dreams, but I normally don’t do WBTB either.
