Rekindling the fire

I have been reading up on all of this stuff/have been keeping a dream journal for more than two weeks now, and It’s starting to lose some of the excitement it first had. I’ve only been trying to have a lucid dream for one day now (and I’m not discouraged at all), but I don’t really feel motivated to keep trying.

How good/entertaining/unique IS a lucid dream? As in: I’ve read that people sometimes arent’ even aware that their first lucid dream is in fact a lucid dream.

I just need some motivation… I’ve been trying harder than ever these last few days and I just thought “Hey, is it that great?”

Next week (during spring break) I’m going to try some WBTB with WILDing with this lucid dream induction cd I have - it should probably do the trick.

There’s no way I’m giving up - That’s not what I’m saying here. I will not give up until I have a lucid dream (and I realize that wanting it too much can be a bad thing); I’m determined, but not motivated.

I dunno what to tell you, man, because motivation comes from yourself, not from anyone else.
but I’m in a similar situation, except that i started about a week ago, just on a whim. I’ve had results, but they mostly involved me getting more sleep and remembering my dreams, not doing anything special with them. I personally don’t care, these are good results. but hey, even if i never have an LD, at least i’m getting enough sleep.

Yeah…motivation can bite you in the butt sometimes. Many times have I lost it…and just “Quit” lucid dreaming for a while. But…I was going for much longer than a day…lol. Some good tips would be to like read all the different Dream Journals out there…aiming for the Lucid type dreams. Also…if you are the imaginative type…just picture yourself that your in a dream…right now. And pretend you are there and do what you would want to do (try at least )

Consider this for motivation… A lucid dream can be as real…or even more real than what you are living like at this very moment. Picture this while you are sitting here. You do a RC…and figure out your dreaming. With this same exact reality of how things look…you can do whatever you want. To me…lucid dreaming is like the real world, except with all laws deleted. So it could be like your normal every day life…but instead of being a boring person, you are a person with all the powers you want, and you could go like flying or something.

I understand completly how you feel, and know what its like to try and gain motivation. All I can really say, is that your first lucid dream, is going to be worth every bit of time you spent trying to get it. No matter how short or long it is, its going to be the best experience that you have ever had, one that sticks with you and encourages you to move on. And once you have one…they only get easier to have

Hope I helped in some way…

I know how you feel squakMix. I have the very same problem involving motivation. Anything I do that I enjoy is untouched after a few weeks. I don’t know personally how to fix this, but I’m trying, and I hope you do too.

The way I see it, it’s worthwhile just remembering my dreams reliably; that’s about an hour (sometimes interesting, sometimes not) of my personal life recovered from the black hole of automatic memory disposal, plus some insight into what’s going on beneath the surface of my conscious awareness.

Any lucid dreaming that I can manage on top of that is a pretty darn good bonus.

Well… even if it takes you a little longer to have a LD just enjoy your ND’s… because every now and then you will have a corker!! Thats what keeps me going… if I LD… thats a bonus… but I like to experience those real weird ones!!!

Well all you can do is try right? You shouldn’t be disheartened … sometimes even a break at attempts can trigger a LD!

Wish You luck!

(I have just started myself but you are welcome to read my LD diary, see sig)

I know what you guys mean - I’ve been getting about an extra hour of sleep every night (I’ve been sleeping early) so I can remember my dreams better, I do feel better overall.

Lately my dreams have been very real. So real that when trying to remember my dreams I dismiss them immediately as something I remember doing, not a dream I had. This gets really frustrating because now my dreams are unbelievably hard to remember.

sigh yea, I’ll keep with it.

man, that’s really weird. all of yesterday i kept remembering things i dreamed, and, like you did, i kept figuring they really happened. That’s one side effect to all this i wasn’t expecting, and it does get pretty confusing. it doesn’t bother me, tho, i’m thankful for something that keeps me on my toes.

It’s a life changing experience. as soon as you have one, you wont be able to get enough of them. just hang in there, because it is worth the effort

I had my first lucid dream today, and that did the trick pretty well .

Totally re-inspired.

COngrats and your first lucid dream!! :cool_laugh:

Way to go  ! Carnun, i can’t get enuf weird ND’s, don’t have near as many as I did when I was a child though .

I might only have one a week… but its enough for me to sit back and reflect in awe to think that somehow my brain manifested all of that!

i don’t even have that many anymore(like the really, really bizarre ones), at least that I remember, but they are absolutely incredible when you do have them. You feel emotions, even, that you don’t in real life. It’s an amazing feeling and experience.
