Request for simplified WILD directions

new title was … I’m New, help me understand this please! :moogle:

Hello all, I just would first like to say, I love this world and you, but I could only assure you that love if you can help me out here. I have never attemted LDing because I don’t really know how it works out because of the confusing directions. I’m looking forward to using the WILD technique, however like I stated, I think the directions look impossible, so if someone could just give me a simplified version of the directions, or atleast a summary, please post. I would also like to say thanks in advanced for helping me out those of you who do.
See ya! dcataylor

welcome to the forums dcataylor!

hmm the WILD technique , basically its keeping your mind awake while you body sleeps. sounds pretty hard doesnt it?
its not to hard just follow these steps:

first, your gonna want to relax, get into a comfortable position and just tense your muscles from your toes to your head
then clear your mind of all thoughts just keep thinking about having a lucid dream (clearing your mind can be pretty hard but its important if you let your mind drift off you’ll fall asleep)
you will eventually start feeling numbness in your hands and feet, spreading into the rest of your body (dont worry its all normal! )
usually at this time you can feel your heartbeat going really fast (DO NOT worry, panic, or lose your concentration on lucid dreaming)
then you should start seeing HI which are just images they will form into a dream eventually.
then just start imagining about being in a dream and there ya go!

also - wild without the WBTB method can take a while ( 90 mins i belive)
if you can wait this long, then go ahead if you cant then do the WBTB method ( set your alarm clock to about 4-6 hours to start ringing) once you wake up start doing the WILD method this should induce a lucid dream in about 10-30 mins

well hope that helped , best of luck!

Okay, I tried WILD last night and it did not work (was my first night), I just think it’s too hard for me to get my mind clear, it keeps drifting off into my fantasy, sorta what I would like to do in the dream, so right now I’m not having too much success. My new question: does anyone have any techniques that does not require that going back to bed thing and concentrating on anything? I know it pretty much sounds whack but as you know I’m very new and don’t know much about this thing. Oh yeah, also, when I tried WILD, I kept getting itchy and stuff, so as a result, I could not get the numbness, is that okay to scratch or can you move at all to get the numbness? I would really like an answer to that. I am highly dedicated to Lucid Dreaming because it sounds so neat  I just need your help to make it happen, please reply and I thank you!

I was actually wondering about the same thing. I always scratch but I lose some of the numbness I felt in my hands. But when I try not scratching it makes me concentrate on the itching part and thus get distracted horribly.

Unfortunately scratching does ruin the the numbness (called sleep paralysis). I often get itchy, but you have to find some way to distract your mind from it. If your deep in concentration or thought your brain tends to block the sensory information that you are itchy.

you dont have to do the WBTB , but you do have to concentrate WILD is keepin your mind awake while your body sleeps

The numbness isn’t actually sleep paralysis, sleep paralysis is when you literally can’t move any part fo your body whatsoever, whether you want to or not.

OHHH!!! thius info would have helped a lot before LOL!

the numbness turns into SP eventually

WILD is not necessaraly easy  It can be very hard. There is no simple set of directions that is compleat.
The simplest explanation I have is:
WILD is getting your body to fall asleep while keeping your mind awake.
That may sound easy, but is very problematic because everyone is different, and so each person must learn how to do that in a way that works for his/her self.
I have never had SP, however I can WILD.
I can not “enter” my HI, I always have a short blackout between HI and being in a dream with WILD.
You might find a way that WILD works for you in one or two days, or after weeks/months of trying, you might give up on WILD. If you are not willing to take the time to read throuh the WILD topic and understand it, then you may not have the motivation to do WILD. If you look around the fourms here, you will see that there are lots of people having problems with WILD. It could be the most difficult tech for LD’ing that there is. I personaly suggest that you work with other techs, like MILD until you have some expeance with LD’ing befor trying WILD. Then you have a better idea of where you are going and may have an easyer time of getting there.
Just my thoughts on the subject.
