Requirements for mutual dreaming?

I’ve been lurking here for about a week, and have been on the road to lucid dreams for around the same amount of time. I’m still training my dream recall, so no dreams yet, but I’m hoping that visiting this site will keep me motivated.

Anyway, on to the main topic: what do you guys think are the requirements to have a successful mutual dream? For an intentional one, achieving lucidity is a pretty obvious one. The dreams have to be fairly similar as well, apparently. Outside of those two, though, I can’t really find any consistent requirements.

I ask this in part because 10 or so years ago, my best friend and I had an entirely unintentional and non-lucid mutual dream. We only saw each other for a very brief amount of time (we flew past each other on penguins), and were able to describe what the other was wearing the next day without either of us giving any hints. This was one of the reasons I started looking in to the lucid dream/mutual dream stuff, since I always found it weird. It might be noteworthy that we also had a very strong friendship and thought very similarly back then.

TL;DR version: Hi, I’m new here  What do you think the requirements are for mutual dreams, other than lucidity and a common setting (and maybe a strong mental connection)?

I think you have stated the requirements, but I would add good dream recall. IMO the two most important factors are the ‘mental’ connection and good dream recall. More dream recall equals more chances of BOTH remembering a mutual dream.

That makes sense. If one person remembered and one person didn’t, then it might be a little tough to convince them

I already posted I think in one topic about shared dreams, that scientists experiment in sharing “information” between two people that were in two separated rooms. The key was to stimulate the brains with the identical magnetic field…

Obviously we are constantly affected by Earths magnetic field but I guess that Earths magnetic field wasn’t strong enough or specific enough to share “information” from one person to another.

So the male subject was in one room and he had this helmet made by this scientist and it was generating this specific magnetic field and parallel to him was the female subject under the same conditions. And after some time period to the male subject were some kind of lights turned on, on his left side I think. And that was repeated once more… After that the female subject reported that she saw some kind of light or lighting in her left side of the head.

So they menage to transfer “information” from one person to another person and it’s proved scientifically… But if that can apply to a dreams that would be great!
