Scariest nightmare in a long time...

Last night, I had trouble sleeping. But, when I finally dreamed, probably during early morning, I had a freakin’ scary dream.

I was walking around on my first school’s yard, when I noticed the Grim Reaper looking at me. I walked away from him, only to notice that one of the teens at the school had the head of the Grim Reaper! I started walking even faster, when a flying die with my head appeared, she looked distressed and said to me: “you are dying, you are dying!” I thought that I must be asleep, and this must be my subconcious telling me that something is seriously wrong on the outside world. I was afraid that I was going to die in my sleep. I started to hyperventilate, and had a false awakening. I lied down in my bed, and couldn’t move. “It’s only sleep paralyzis” I thought and tried to calm down. I tried to get a glance of the figurines on a shelf in my room, saw them barely. I tried to scream for help, but I couldn’t. Then I woke up for real, healthy.

I normally never dream anything like this. My nightmares usually consist of either zombies, or me becoming crazy and violent. I also noticied this morning, that I had strange marks on my arm, which didn’t exist the night before. It looks like a mix between eczema and small blood vessels (Telangiectasia?). Maybe I was so scared that I somehow scratched my arm in my sleep or something.

The dream felt prophetic, and even though I realised it was a dream, I still thought that the dream was somehow true: that I really was dying. But I thought that if I ever meet the reaper again, I will punch him in the face!

The nightmare itself, combined with the Sleep Paralysis would be scary as hell! I’d be stressing about dying in real life like you were, since dreams are often weird like that.

One time, after a night of drinking, I had a dream where I was drinking glass after glass of water and my thirst would never be quenched. I woke up super thirsty.

It’s weird how the mind works, I wonder what your dream meant?

Glad you’re alright.

Wow that really did sound scary. I had dreams before where I couldn’t breathe, and it felt so realistic that I thought my body wasn’t breathing either.

However your dream was way worse I can tell

My boyfriend has helped me get over this dream… that’s until he said: “what if, when you punch him, your arm would rot and fall off?”

O.o Thanks a lot.

You know, techinically this is not a nightmare, this is a night terror. When you just see scary stuff in your dream and freak out its a nightmare, but when you lose control of your sense and completely freak out its called a night terror, which is actually classified as sleep disorder

/me klemmer Emma. :hugs:

My first meetings with the Grim Reaper weren’t too nice either. She got a whole lot nicer after I faced her, for that matter. Rather than punching you should ask why, and what;—what do you represent? How have you been feeling lately, you know, physically, emotionally?

Berserker?

Not really. More that I hallucinate, grow paranoid and start killing people due to me being crazy and seeing things that do not exist.

It could be a prophetic vision, I mean all of us are going to die one day --so in a sense it is warning you of the future. Granted, you probably already know that, but perhaps your subconscious is trying to tell you something.

Yikes, that is some scary stuff! :scared:

Dreams of the dreamer dying never mean a physical death. If you are going to physically die, you’ll most likely dream of being in your own wedding.

This dream of your death is about dying to aspects of yourself, like part of your personality. It could mean that you need to look at your life and maybe take up a new life path.

Also, it seems like you have the fear of death?
A dream like this could also be hinting that it is the death of fear which is needed to overcome the fear of death. :content:
Don’t Worry! Just be aware and

Stay Lucid!

I don’t mean to hijack the thread here, but I recently had a very similar dream that has had me worried lately… What struck me the most about this dream/nightmare was its realism. I woke up almost unable to tell if it really happened or not…
It’s kinda foggy now, but I remember hearing that 2 of my neighbors had died. When I looked over toward their house, I saw a casket in their front door. :scared:
Ironically, I had a (much lighter) dream the next night about a video game with a certain character in it, and the next day, I saw that game IRL in a trailer online… :bored: Very weird stuff. I’m not sure if this means anything or not, but it’s got me a little worried now…
(Oh and BTW, my neighbors are alive and well, thank goodness!)

Wow, hey let us know if they do die soon, or anything related, because maybe it is precognitive.

So this video game dream is just a precognitive dream. It’s nothing to worry about, but be be happy that you are tapping into the future a bit, even if it doesn’t mean anything. I get those dreams too sometimes.

I used to have lots more nightmares when I was little. I used to have three general themes they followed, but I only remember two of the three themes now. I can’t really say I still have pleasant dreams, but some can be called all right. But over the last several weeks and months I’ve had several nightmares where I’ve been extremely scared by ghosts, whether I could see them or not. (I had one such dream three nights ago, it’s in my DJ.) I know exactly how you feel as once I dreamed of a random woman losing her baby and I was trying to put the baby back, then around two weeks later someone we knew lost her baby. I’ve had another similar dream since then (that one was quite disgusting…) and that made me really upset for several days after cause I was worried the same thing might happen again. It didn’t, fortunately.

However, if someone were to give me a medicine or something so that my nightmares went away, I think I’d miss them since they’re so much a part of me. :uh:

Well, I know that often in dreams dying is meant to be taken symbolically. You might be right about the thing about new aspects of myself.

I’m sorry. I am just not happy with your description and I happen to disagree too. A night terror takes place during a different sleep stage (Delta) from normal nightmares (REM) and is characterised by the person screaming and moving about, appearing to hallucinate, all while alseep, and usually does not remember any of it afterwards. It is essentially to have a nightmare while sleepwalking. Now, in delta you do not have sleep paralysis, which is why you are able to move around. And this took place in the morning while most night terrors take place one hour after falling alseep. Yes, I am a know-it-all, I’m aware of it.
