Scary Dreams

What is the most scary dream you have ever had?

I had one that flipped me out. Not lucid.

I was falling, falling, never stopping, my heart pounding at multiple times its normal speed, knowing when I hit the ground I’ll die. I finally hit, and feel a BIG jolt, and I leave my body in my dream, and watch my body be found, and put in an ambulance and rush off to the hospital. They used the heart recesitators or whatever, then I got jolted into my body, they did it again, and in the middle of the jolt. I woke up. about 1 inch off the ground for my entire body, laying down. No way I did that, something WEIRD happened. I did multiple reality checks, they failed, stayed awake for awhile, and eventually I fell back to sleep.

I remember that when I was young, both the cats I grew up with died within a few months of eachother, one of old age and the other of old age and heath probems (also I think he missed his brother).

I was really upset at losing them that I used to have scary dreams every night that involved my cats, and even other animals.

The most “popular” dream that I had was of getting a new pet, it dieing, coming alive and trying to kill me!! I know this sounds weird, but it was really scary for a 10year old!!

After that, I couldnt look at that sort of thing in films (Such as the dog at the beginning of cabin fever) or stuffed animals in the fear of triggering it off again.

Has anyone had an event that triggered off weird or scary dreams?

I had this dream where realised that my hair had been cut and I had absolutely no recall of having a hair cut!! I started to panic and really freak out and thoughts were racing thourgh my head cause I had this hugh gap in my memory - like I had been abducted by aliens…then I woke up and I was in my bed and everything was fine… until I realised the light was on. So I switched it off but one small circle of light remained on my bed… it then moved into the back of my room and started sucking everything up into it (kinda like a black hole might!!!) Again, I started to panic and freak out… I woke up, but this time I wasn’t sure if I had woken up for real and I was too scared to go back to sleep - but I eventually fell asleep.

I have only had this false awakening dream experience twice I think… but that was the scariest dream for me.

The scariest dream I ever had was a few nights ago. It was lucid but I was so scared I couldn’t do anything about it, I was in my bedroom lying in bed(in the dream world) and I heard this blood curdling scream from outside, I looked out my window and there was this man running up the street(the street he was running up was nowhere near my house), and he had a chainsaw, he wouldn’t stop screaming, it was the scariest thing I’d ever heard, it sounded like everything horrible thing at once. If any of you have ever played the
game “Manhunt”, it felt like being in that game, only infintely worse and real , I just hid. When I left my bedroom it was alright tho.

I had a dream I was walking home, down dark alley (I often walk through there on my way home from the bus stop), when I suddenly I was filled with fear, and I had no idea why. But nothing seemed out of the ordinary, and I made it out onto the street with the streetlights shining, and everything seemed fine.

I come around the corner, and I see my parents car, toatled on a tree. I get worried, thinking someone had crashed the car, as everyone in my family drives that car. So I go to look inside, but there’s no one there. I notice that there are muddy footprints circling the car many times, and I thought that was strange.

Then I look down at my feet and see they are covered in mud. I started freaking out… I had absolutely no recollection of crashing the car, so I start to think that maybe I’m losing my mind.

Then, out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw what looked like a werewolf run past, but as I looked, it disappeared. At this point I’m sure I’ve lost my mind, and I start hearing voices all around me, laughing at me.

I just started screaming, and then I woke up.

I’m glad I don’t have nightmares very often.

The scaries that I can remember was then I woke up because the bed was shaking  and it felt like there was someone behind the bed (IRL there is a wall there)

I might have had more scary dreams when I was younger but I can’t remember them anymore

I had a very vivid and the scariest dream I have had in a long time last night, it involved taking lsd then going mad and finding a 380 revolver. - I fired it at a cop who was in my back yard from a window in a moment of drug fueled madness, the dream then progressed to the police surrounding the building armed with sub machine guns.
Yeah I like my combat dreams but this was just insane lol I was freaking out of my mind, I had got off 5 shots and began contemplating suicide with the last round, i never did though makes me wonder what blowing my brains out in a dream would be like lol.

There was points in which I said to my self ‘I sure hope this is a dream’ but i was more interested in avoiding being arrested or getting hit by enemy bullets lol.
When i woke up I was so happy it was a dream and was still in a light form of shock.

I think the morel of the story is lsd and firearms do not mix

Usualy the dreams that scare me pray on anxities and paranoid thoughts I have had recently and those falling dreams are so freaky to lol.

when i was little i had a dream that i was at a babysitters and i saw her put poision in our food, she proceeded to try to kill me and i woke up and went out in the hallway to go to my parents room, and she was right there right in my damn face… it scared the hell out of me, first false awakening.

when i was around 13 i had SP with this hooded figure floating at the foot of my bed with a huge sword, very slowly and menacingly coming towards me and rising atop of my head… i knew i was going to die, i mean, i felt it, extreme terror like i’d never had before…

back then i was religious… and i mean, i couldn’t scream, i couldn’t do anything, all i could do is inside my mind just go insane praying to God to help me… i woke up scared shitless…

i’d see his face whenever i would start falling back asleep…

i’ve had some absolutely horrifying dreams about watching simpsons halloween episodes, the one with the haunted house telling them to kill each other kind of scared me really bad when i was young, so… when i have these nightmares they are just awful, but I think I’m over them now… it’s like, I can’t turn the tv off, and I can’t get away from the show… sometimes they are really really really violent… and sometimes they are just like rehashings of episodes i’ve already seen, but… they just really really terrify me beyond description at times.

the weirdest thing is dreams where you are terrified of things that are not even scary to you… like… when i was real young, and at disneyworld no less, i had a dream I was walking in a mall, and all of a sudden captain hook (like the costume wearing performers at disneyworld) appeared in front of me, I was never scared of captain hook, but… damn… it … just really really really scared me.

i developed a fear of him for a while.

i don’t entirely recall the most recent scary dream I’ve had… it probably involved spiders, but I’m working on overcoming that… usually I don’t have nightmares anymore because they almost always trigger some form of lucidity in me.

it’s weird to sit here and think about these dreams though they conjure up dream world images which… i think are fairly accurate.

Hmm one of my scariest was a sleep paralysis waking dream I had. I hadn’t slept since the night before and it was the wee hours of the morning and I FINALLY fell asleep. I don’t know what woke me up in the first place but I was laying on my back and when I opened my eyes it sorta felt like I was really drunk semi blurry vision and kinda spinny feeling and then I realized I couldn’t move! This scared me quite a bit then I look over at my entertainment center with the clock, tv and everything and this entity with long hair drifted past it. This really made me panic and I tried to scream but found out I couldn’t I could only make the faintest little squeaks. My eyes darted around the room trying to regain control of my body then my whole room spegettified and I felt like I was shot forward then flung back onto my bed like a bungee cord pulled me back and then all was fine. I had heard of sleep paralysis but never experienced it, it was scary during all of it I was just overwhelmed with fear. Later that night I kept waking a couple other times not feeling my body then being flung back into it but without any hillucinations.
