Sorry if there is already a topic about this, but sometimes there have been cases in which a sensation from a dream continues into WL. I have been experiencing this more often recently.
In the past it has happened occasionally, such as one day I continued for 2 hours or more feeling like insects were growing out of my face and crawling down my throat. Sometimes the sensation wakes me up, 3 times I have woken up because of the sensation of having a bucket of water thrown over me. I still felt wet for a few minutes after waking up (it was not Sleep Paralysis, i’m sure of that).
I was just wondering, is this a common thing, and if not, what could be causing it? SP is ruled out due to the length of time it took for each one to finish, and the fact that whenever it happens, I always wake up completely.
I once had a dream where I was in the water, standing, and suddenly tripped and started to fall. Before I hit the water, I woke up. I’ve had reacurring dreams like that.
My explananation is that the dream was so vivid that you were still concentrating on it so much that when you awoke you still felt the lingering embers of your dream, per say.
Perhaps it happens simply because the sensation is strong - for instance, if you will be angry on someone, it may stay for the rest of the day - this could be the same.
That does make some sense, however, the more recent ones, I haven’t even remembered the dream that is came from! All I remember was total blackness, then seeing a bucket throw water over me…
Okay, so it’s a slightly seperate problem, to not dream and still have the sensation, but it’s just there…
I’ve had a few like this, though it’s possible the connection is the wrong way round. I’ll explain.
In one dream, I was in some sort of canal or water, with fast flowing water that I was being carried along with. Not scary, kinda fun. However, at one point, there was a splinter of metal at the side and I caught my finger on it. I woke up at that point, and my finger still hurt. At the time, I had an old wooden bed, and rather than the pain from the dream coming into reality, it’s possible I scratched my finger while I was dreaming, this was then incorporated into the dream, and then I woke up to find the real reason for it.
Not all are so easy to explain though. In another dream I was a werewolf, and got into a fight with another werewolf and tore it’s throat out with my teeth. When I woke up I could still taste the blood in my mouth. I’m unable to think of a satisfactory explanation for that one.
It was a normal dream, and the man “who’s face I can’t see” came up to me. All of a sudden I wrapped my arms around his waist, and gave him a tight hug. Then I could feel his arms around my back, returning the hug. When I woke up, I still had the feeling of the hug. I felt sooo much love. (I’M NOT CRAZY!!!..right?) I had a smile on my face for the whole morning. I sometimes wish I could go back to that dream…
