<Mod Edit - Moved from the Garden to Beyond Dreaming>b_i
First of all, let me begin by saying that I have been pretty skeptical of shared dreaming in the past, but I do admit that the entire concept of it is not entirely impossible. Everyone wished that they could just meet a friend in an LD and actually go do something with that person, while they are both experiencing the same thing in their dreams. Through things that I’ve seen and read, I’ve decided that the idea of shared dreaming is not so impossible. First of all, there is not really any law of physics that prevents telepathy from being real. Many of us have heard of the bizarre implications of quantum mechanics. An effect known as quantum entanglement could provide some insight as to how telepathy, and therefore shared dreaming might be possible. Quantum entanglement is a bizarre effect where two particles have a deep connection between them. For example, lets think of two electrons vibrating in unison, in a state known as coherence. Even if we drag each electron to opposite ends of the universe, there remains a deep connection between them. If you change the spin on one electron, the other changes as well. So, it’s possible that at the beginning of time, just after the big bang occurred, the wave function of all particles were entangled, creating a mysterious connection between all objects in the universe. So, one might therefore conjecture that this could be the means by which shared dreaming might occur; through deep quantum connections deep inside the brains of all people on earth. Therefore, I don’t think it would be a mistake to keep an open mind toward shared dreaming, although I will probably still have a certain degree of skepticism toward it for some time. Thoughts please.
