Today I am a sicko, have been for a while now. The whole time I’ve either: A. Been on the laptop; or B. Playing some games. I’m bored now though, what else can I do? My friends won’t go near me like this and my parents aren’t fans of board games (I’d love it if they were, I’m a Monopoly fiend. ), so any suggestions of what else I can do? Oh, and sleep is out of the question. If you read the How Are You topic or my DJ you’d know why.
I think this topic will come in handy for future people who get sick as well.
I’ve just recovered (well, mostly) from some kind of illness that lasted about a week, and I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to sleep. How did I survive the boredom of being stuck at home for days without any company? Well, the raging addiction to IRC helped a little. Heh. Also, sitting out in the sun with a good book proved quite effective at making me forget about how I was feeling. Or, if you’re feeling particularly lazy and it hurts to use your brain, just sprawl out on the couch and watch a mindless action movie or two.
And of course, you could always sit around posting dozens and dozens of messagess at the forum. Oh wait! You do that even when you aren’t sick.
Anyway, I hope you’re feeling better before too long. Sucks to be sick.
For once I can say that I don’t have an addiction to something! Hehe, at least I’m not addicted yet. Maybe I’ll check it out later though, if there aren’t any shiny objects to distract me. (you have no idea how often that happens ) The sun/book thing isn’t too bad. You know how much sun we have in Florida, and I think I still have a few books my aunt and uncle sent a while back. Shame it’s getting dark out now. Ahh well, something to do tomorrow, eh?
You’re lucky you remind me of someone or you’d get SUCH a truit slapping! Odd thing, I have no idea who you remind me of. Good feeling about it though. = ) Thanks for the suggestions.
Whenever I’m sick I eat and eat and eat. Whoever said being sick ruins the appetite obviously never saw me down with a cold. Anyway, if you haven’t guessed already, I recommend eating. And reading. Find a really long good book and read for the whole day. That’s what I did when I had a particularly bad case of the flu.
But my absolute best recommendation is to have a long hot shower. For some reason, it really makes you feel better. Don’t ask me why, but it does. (Naturally, I have many hot showers when I feel sick - my mum says the water bill shoots through the roof.)
My temperature’s gone down a bit today but I still have a nose and throat problem. Eating? YeeeeeeeeeeeeaNO. Though I haven’t eaten a full meal since Tuesday’s breakfast, I’m still not hungry. I know I should eat something, but I’m curious as to how long this will last. Bet I’ve lost a lot of weight this week, especially considering I’ve got a lot of chunkiness to burn off. It tends to fit my body shape though, so I’ve never had a problem with it. I always look so buff. hides from the truit attack
Shower? Don’t want to raise the water bill up any higher than it is already. Bathing once or twice a month is plenty! Just kidding, just kidding, just kidding… =P
Ha, I struggle to get hungry normally, I would die if I ate while sick. What I do when I’m ill is trying to feel better, to relax and try to think I’ll heal quicker. I don’t remember much besides this since last time I got sick was…years ago.
I read today that when you have a fever you should drink one bottle of champaine a day. That will make it go away. But I don’t really think that’s true.
Shower works for me too. When I’m feeling bad when I wake up and I shower it makes me feel good again.
Siiw- Though a bit late, I’ll answer your question. I tend to be hot all the time unless a fan is on me, and my parents are the complete opposite. SO, I get overheated easily if I don’t have Freddie the fan with me at all times.
Daniel- Hmm, puzzles. Puzzles=thinking=brain blowing up=me being dead=not feeling so hot. Sorry, not much of a puzzle person. Actually, while I was sick, I wasn’t much of an anything person.
Many thanks to all of you, I’m now completely healthy (have been for a few days, no more runny nose either) and back to my normal self. I advise anyone with good suggestions to keep adding to this topic though, for people who get sick in the future.
