Sleep Cycle

I hope this is the right section to post this…
Anyway; just wondering, if you wake up from a particular stage in the sleep cycle, and then fall back asleep, do you resume that stage that you woke up from… or do you start all over again, or maybe even something else?

Thanks in advance.

In general, we do wake up several times a night by ourselves, and those are called micro-awakenings. Most people don’t notice them, and most obviously LD’ers can take advantage of those for WBTB’s, but the important part is, waking up is a natural part of the sleep cycle, so doing it and then going back to bed lets the cycle continue from where it ended.

Okay, thank you!

Just to provide some additional info: many sleep researchers have concluded that even if you’re awake for about two hours, you can still resume from where you left off. Hence why some people like LaBerge suggest that the WBTB technique last an hour and a half (which many people these days find too long).

Past a certain threshold, the sleep cycle will reset, however. But we’re talking about several hours here.

very interesting subject, thank you for posting

Even more interesting… ^^
