hello…with college beginning for me im stuck with a new horrible sleep schledue…i go to sleep around 2 in the morning and wake up around 7…sometimes i goto sleep even later. this is 4 outta 7 days a week. Most days i come back to my room and nap for about an hour or two…here are some questions i have:
am i not getting enough sleep - is this schledue bad for me?
they say you need like 7-9 hours of sleep a night - is it okay if you get that sleep in 2 differnt sessions like i do?
when napping, when do i go into rem sessions? and how long do they usually last, repeat?
why would i be having trouble staying asleep during my naps…i usually only stay asleep for an hour, and cant falll back asleep…?
and last…what happens if you WILD but you dont go into a REM stage?
I dunno whether its bad for you, the amount of sleep you need depends on the person. How tired do you feel during the day?
I think napping is ok as long as its not making it harder for you to get to sleep at night.
In my experience I’ve remembered dreams better when I have naps in the afternoon when I’m not getting enough sleep at night. I think its because of the “REM rebound” effect - you have to catch up on the REM sleep youve missed.
But if you dont sleep very long when you have a nap maybe youre getting enough sleep? Some people just cant sleep during the day though. Its generally easier to get to sleep at night (obviously) and early afternoon - called the “post lunch dip”.
Most dreams happen in REM sleep but you can get NREM sleep dreams, and I think its possible to become lucid in them by WILDing, but I think you would normally either go into REM sleep or wake up.
