Lately I have been eager to enter SP and try WILDing. I had a bizarre experience last night where I cannot tell if I was SPing or simply having a dream about SPing since lately I have been thinking aobut it constantly. OK what I recall last night is waking up laying on my stomach widthwise across the bed. As you can imagine I am never in this sleeping position. On the other hand, I felt completely paralyzed and I heard faint voices behind my back, like in my other typical SP experiences. I even tried to WILD by imagining my self rising from the bed. Though I felt the unusual sensation of lifting from my bed, I never acessed a LD. What really makes me doubt that I was having Sleep Paralysis is that when I woke up or got out of the SP I was in my usual sleep position. Still I understand that being in the SP state is almost like being in the border between dreams and real life, and many things can make no sense. Still I am undecied weather this was a dream or SP.
sounds more like a dream than real SP , in SP your in your regualr sleeping position, i’ve never once heard of the isslusion that your sleeping differently
I’ve had that happening to me a few times. It’s always been a dream for me as far as I know. Because I usually try to turn on the light and it never works and I realise that I’m dreaming. The next time it happens, try opening your eyes and look around. Then you will hopefully “forget” that your where paralyzed when you notice something strange in your room or maybe you are in some completely different place all together I’ve had a few nice LDs that way, but it doesn’t always work though. The first times it happened to me I was confused and couldn’t quite figure out what was going on, and sometimes I even saw an alien or something in my room. And I’ve had a few visits from the old hag too. Once she was even a man
Hope2dream, it was perhaps both dream and SP. Let me explain. You said you were lying in a weird position and waking up in a different one. So that indicates it must have been a dream. But you were in SP too (which is normal in a dream, but normally you arent aware of it). If you are aware of your real body in a dream sometimes you cannot seem to move your dream body too since the real body doesnt want to move either. This idea came from my experience that often when im lucid and close to waking up my dreambody and real body seem to be integrated together so some of what my real body experiences is transmitted to the dreambody.
I agree with Xetrov. You were dreaming and your RL body was in sleep paralysis. You were conscious of the feeling of your RL body and it’s sleep paralysis, but your dream body was in a different position. Floating up is one way I get into the LD, but it’s usually in darkness in my bedroom. Now that you know, next time try getting out of bed and doing an RC, then go explore.
