spirits and ghosts.

Hello everyone. I was just wondering if any of you have had encounters with ghosts/spirits before. My mother passed away 2 years ago, and I sometimes wonder if she ever appears around my house… She believed in ghosts…in fact, she had a very creepy encounter with one! ( I believe it now, didn’t use to).

Anyway, I was just wondering if you have had any encounters with spirits before. Please share your stories here  .

Nope. Don’t believe in them.

Me neither.

I kinda believe in them. I keep changing my mind about it though…lol

Yeah I believe in them. Why not? I’ve felt things after loved ones have passed before. But I think I’d die of a heart attack if I ever saw something, so I don’t go looking for it

Hey DC… I believe in them. Sorry to hear about your mom.

My dad passed away about 11 years ago. My mom still lives in the same house that we grew up in. He died at 5pm. Every day the TV in their bedroom turns on at that same time and if it’s on it’ll turn off.

My kids once convinced me to spend the night in my old bedroom so they wouldn’t be bored. I woke up around 3am because of all the slamming of doors and stomping up and down the stairs. I couldn’t believe the girls were being so inconsiderate of my mom who was sleeping. I got up and opened the door. I could see the other bedrooms and saw that everyone was fast asleep. I heard the basement door shut and knew right then it couldn’t have been them.

So, I believe.

Well… Theres an old lady haunting the house that I live in. Ive seen her only once, though.

And I believe in house gnomes.

house gnomes??? what are those?

edit…ditto

Critters living in your house, moving stuff around to irritate you.

i dont believe in ghosts per say…
i believe in angels, demons, poltergeists, random pockets of energy and hallucinations.

I’ve had an experience after the death of a loved one where i felt their presence, i actually felt her hand on my back, she was an angel, i am sure. ghosts are s’posed to be scary… she wasn’t scary, it was one of the purest feelings of love, care and peace i have ever experienced. she was not a ghost, she was an angel, just stopping by to tell me that she was alright on her way to whatever may lay ahead.

As for the angry GURR! variety of “ghosts” - poltergeists is my guess. an footprint of your soul, aura, energy or what have you on the astral-snow if you’d like. whither it be angry, sensual, happy, or just really confused.

and then i believe in demons, that there are forces, powers, and natural balances to all the good energy in the world that come across as ticked off ghosties.
I remember once when i was young, (call me crazy if you like, but this is what i saw) i saw the bust of a man, (it was to dark to see the rest of him) i appeared to see him immolate… only without the fire. he essentially melted before me.

idk… but id say your average run of the mill ghost run in is just an apparition of pent up astral rage.

Quixote, isn’t the word ghost technically an oversimplification of all those terms you used. IMHO, it is.

I have always believed in ghosts.
just remeber that I was young when it happened.
But anyway heres my story.

When I was little I spent alot of time at my friend eddy’s house.
It was a two story house and ffor some reason the bottom floor was always freezing col even in the summer. When ever I was down there I always had this weary feeling like something was watching me.

So I spent the night over there all the time. We would sleep up stairs in the living room. I would sleep in the middle of the floor on my sleeping bag. He had this dog and every time I layed on the floor it was next to me, every time. But anyways a couple of times I would wake up in the middle of the night and the dog would be gone, nowhere in sight which was really strange because it never left us. For some rreason it was really cold. that cold that goes straight to the bone.

So I look around and his T.V. is glowing this really wierd white looking light. I woke eddy up and asked him who the left the T.V. on. He said no one he unplugged it. I pointed and said no you didn’t. So we walk over to unplug it but we realize that it is already unplugged. We just looked at each other like WTF.
We just kinda shrugged it off and went back to sleep.

So later on I’m sleeping over again. And once again his dog is laying next to me trying to steal my sleeping bag, punk dog.
But I wake up once more and it was freezing like never before and it was mid summer. I notice the dog is gone once more. Then I get that strange feeling in my stomach. I look over towards the stairs to downstairs. I frozen with fear for some reason. The feeling keeps growing. Then I see a faint glimer of the white light. It gets brighter and brighter as it moves up the stairs. It mves up the stairs and it is huge.
I notice that in the middle of the glow I see an outline of a man.as I am staring at it I see his face. As I do he looks over and looks directly at me.

I try and scream out for eddy buut nothing comes out. I try and run but am frozen with fear. I keep trying and finally am able to get up and run. I ran to the kitchen and hide under the counter. I keep trying to cry out for eddy but can’t get anything out. My voice is so raspy but I finally get it out. Eddy Eddy Eeeeeeddddddddyyyyy. He wakes up and follows me to the kitchen. He finds me sitting ther shaking horribly. He ask whats wrong but I can’t tell him. All I can get out is call my mom, Going home must go home.

So he calls my mom and I go home. The next day he comes over and asks what happened last night. I tell him and as mention the guy he gets tthis look on his face. I ask what. then he asks if the guy was tall and had brownish hair and well described him almost perfectly. I asked how did he know I didn’t tell him what he looked like. Then he tells me that the guy that lived here before him had killed himself and hat he did it down stairs by the stairs. I was freaked.
Well to tell the least I never sent another night over there again. He spent the night at my house.

I know there are sceptics out there but I Believe.

lol, i guess you are right… i have a strange habbit of overcomplicating things.

i just do not believe in spirits doomed to wander the earth causing all sorts of mischief.

Idk, people who got lost or left over aura? I’m leaning towards left over but then again I’ve never seen them…
And Krueger! That explains my strange gift for losing my car keys! Thanks!

lol… my dad used to call them time bandits. He said they’d come and borrow something and put it back in the wrong place

We have 3 in our house. Me and my dad have seen them, and my aunt and mom have heard them. There’s Samantha, who looks about 16, with a low cut prom dress. Her father is John, and he has a blue pinstripe suit. Of course there’s Kiki, the dark gray cat who zooms around the house all the time. None of them ever seem to be a threat, they just creep us out a little sometimes. :bored:

Yeah, that would creep me out A LOT if I actually saw something. lol. I dunno…sometimes I feel like I can feel my mom’s presence, and sometimes I hear stuff at night. Just odd little noises. She’s come to some of my dreams (none of them lucid yet) What’s weird is that she came to my best friend’s dream. My friend had a dream where she appeared at my school, and she hugged her. She said she FELT the hug too.

back on topic… My mom had a creepy encounter with an ‘evil’ ghost. She lived in an apartment, and when she woke up, all the books in her bookcase were facing the wrong way (pages facing you, not the spine of the book). Then later on that week, she woke up and the gas was on! she was like, " If you wanna turn my books around that’s fine, but don’t gas me out of my apartment!" He never came around again…

She found out from someone that someone commited suidide in that apartment, maybe that very room…I don’t know. It’s hard to imagine that some people use Ouijja boards and such to actually contact these ghosts! I only welcome anyone who comes from God…

I used to be a huge fan of ghosts and related phenomenon. My friends and I would often go searching for them in abandoned houses just out of town, and by dawn, we’d always have a lot of freaky events and occurrences to boast about. “Look!” We’d shout. “That spider web is drifting towards you from all the way across the room… it must be a ghost!” Maybe a particular object was glowing for some reason, or a shadow looked a little too much like a person. I remember during a camping trip in early high school, I chased what I thought was a friend of mine through a field of thick grass at midnight, only to discover upon returning to camp that nobody else was actually out there with me. “Couldn’t have been a kangaroo,” I said. “It was running, not hopping.”

What do I believe now? I believe that if you really want to see something, your mind will usually comply. If you want to see a ghost, then that’s what you’ll see.

Wow those sound like good bedtime stories, Atheist. Must have been so fun

Exactly. People create their own reality while it seems the other way round. Sages have been telling us this for millenia
