Spreading the LD lore.

Dunno which category this falls in…

How can i spread LD lore to other friends who tend to be “idiots”? My cousin is especially one who is against me, overdoing the  smilies in MSN Messenger, is always stupid and teasing me all the time.

People who are weird, strange and stupid and tend to be black mages. Don’t give a thing about rules and others. Completely unlike me. Among these people i’m distinguishable.

People like this, how can i tell them about LD-ing?

Tell them they can turn themselves into girls and have fun in their LD’s.
That’ll get their attentions .

Okay - now seriously (though you can try that if you want - I did )… I’m not really sure. You could try linking it to one of their interessts.

They’re really really repulsive to my talking. They tend to ignore me, or tease me of whatever i say.

then why try convincing them…

if the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

Don’t bother people with it if they’re not interested, waste of time

If you think people are swine, why do you cast pearls before them?

There is no just one solution when you want to talk freely about LD’ing. You have to listen to people first and understand in what they’re interested in. If they are interested in fun, tell them it’s a funny thing you just have discovered. If they are interested in dreams and inconscious, tell them it’s a way to meet your inconscious. If they are interested in spirituality, tell them it’s a curious experience with consciousness. If they are interested in brain, psychology and science, tell them about Pr Laberge’s experiments, REM sleep, sleep paralysis, hypnagogic hallucinations, etc. And if they are interested in nothing, just don’t tell them about LD’ing.

Generally, I just speak about LD’ing with people I think they are curious enough to try it.

I’ve found I’ve needed to be careful with who I’ve told about LD’ing and Lucid Dreaming in general. I always feel awkward enough how it is talking verbally about it, but when someone tilts their head to the side and raises an eyebrow it can sure make one feel like an ass.

For example, for a while my brother was into it and we shared dreams and stuff but he decided he really didn’t like it. I guess it scared him or was too weird for him - so everytime I brought it up he just didn’t care or would change the subject. Then with my cousin, I told her about it and she started getting into it and loving it.

I guess you know your friends and the people you’re around the best so be the best judge of character you can be and see if they’ll take it seriously or show an interest. Perhaps some people just can’t be taugh about the wonders of LD’ing…

i’ve told all my friends just told them straight, mainly because I was too exited too keep it in, one ignores me, one mocks me but is sort of interested (he can’t be bothered doing any more than occasional RCs though, and mocks me all the more when I try and explain WILD), but the others are all genuinely intersted, though I put the most effort in, which I why I was annoed when 2 of them got spontanous LDs. Grrrr…
That’s just my personal experience. I now don’t tell anyone else because everyone else I know I don’t now well enough.

It’s super-difficult to judge their personality. I deem them all black mages due to their “Chaotic Evil” characteristics.

My cousin seems keen in fotball, but i don’t see how he would become interested if i were to persuade him.

They don’t know what they’re missing, so I say let them keep living in the dark, it’s their loss, not yours

My Tips:

  1. Start referring to yourself as “The Dream Master”.

  2. Give long and eloquent speeches about LDing.

  3. Always wear a gold and silver jumpsuit.

People will soon take notice

black mages arent all evil…especially in Final Fantasy in which they are the coolest…

Dream Oracle, i was reffering to Evil BMs, not Good BMs.

Josh, i realized that just after reading that tip.

I decided not to spread it to people i know are evil BMs.

 Sorry! Evil BM’s…I’m a nurse…I couldn’t figure out what the heck you guys were talking about for a minute

OK, back to the Black Mages
Just be around when they are ready…And keep doing what you wanna do. They see you all excited they’ll get interested

a good way might be talking to them and relating it to something. For example “hey have u guys ever seen that movie vanilla sky?” (for those who havent seen it, its with tom cruiz and is basically about a lucid dream) once they say they have seen it just tell them u can have the same experiance. They will probably ask how and from there just go on to tell them about lucid dreaming

People keen on sport are generally not the kind of people who are into LDing, or anthing else that could be considered “spiritual”

Yeah. To tell the truth, they are more based in the “physical strength” rather than “mental strength”.

I’m kinda confused why you want to bring this up these kids in the first place, and I have no idea what a black mage is and what it has to do with dreams.
But I’ll try to help. The way you describe them makes them sound like the typical high school jock who’s life is controlled by a archetype of what they think they are supposed to be. To be honest, it seems like a lost cause. You’ll probably have to bring it up at a time when they aren’t around other people. The conversation should not start with “HEY you guys ever heard of lucid dreaming?!” Try bring up through another topic. If they have any sort of trait that is not stereotypical, use it. If they are at all interested in faith, link it to that; If they are at all interested in art, link it to that; if they are at all interested in music, link it to that; etc. There is a chance you’ll find some honest trait about them, but maybe not something I’ve mentioned. Basically, if they have any sign of a personal depth, you might be able to get their attention.
The way I see it it, the most important thing is timing. You should not force the conversation. It’s like that it will be awhile before this moment comes up, and to be honest, I’m not sure it will be worth your time and effort. It’s your choice though.
I love how I wrote this post as if I know exactly what you should do. These are all my thoughts and not specific truths, even though they are listed as such.
However, don’t assume that just because someone plays sports they won’t be into lucid dreaming. I know a guy who was a captain of a varsity team last year who does it regularly. Good luck.

Thanks for the help but i decided not spread the lore to the other “black mages”. Oh, and i’m using that term to distinguish people from me. Look at my nick and avatar. Says “White Mage Cid”. That nick describes my good-hearted personality as a white mage has. And a black mage, here, used to determine people are your average evil idiot. And just that doesn’t have anything to do with dreaming.
