Starting the LD process

Hi

My name i Johannes, and I’m from Denmark.

My curiosity of LDing started when i watched the movie Waking Life. I imagine that a lot of you have already watched this movie, those of you who havn’t had the opportunity, PICK IT UP!

Upon watchin Waking Life, I realized that I once as a kid in my adolesence had had a similar experience.

I remember waking up, just standing straight up in my bed, looking in a book in the bookshelf, and the letters made no sense. I panicked and don’t remember much after that point. I was not very old, 13 maybe, and I was very scared at the time.

I’ve since then thought of the incident as something that may or may not have happened, but now I know, I was LDing. And the book was a RC. It didn’t hit untill a couple of weeks ago when i watched the movie, that that was what had happened to me at age 13. I could never relate to the incident because it made no sense at all to me. So I pushed it away, not thinking about it very much.

Since my engagement i LDing, starting about 2 weeks ago, i’ve read alot of material about LDing. All the different methods, pointers, FAQs and whatnot. I’ve even ordered LaBerges; Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming.

To say the least, I’m motivated, my intent is straight, and I’m persistent.

After a week (7 nights) of going to sleep , and waking up and writing my dream journal. I find it very hard to remember anything else than the last thing i dreamt.

This morning i dreamt of me being in a limo with a black guy as my driver, and this cop was asking me all these questions. But (as far as I remember) this was what I was dreaming, just before I woke up.

It has been like this for the entire week. Is this common? Or do you get better at remembering further and further back into your dreams?

I’ve read people that can remember 2 - 3 - 4 dreams per night. I’d love to be alble to do that. :cool_laugh:

Another thing, how do you stop yourself from “trying too hard”? Forcing the LDs will result in the opposite. I’ve read that. But I think I wan’t it too much. As I said before, I see myself as extremely motivated.

What I do as i fall asleep is to remind myself that this is a dream and that I should do RCs in my dream.

I know this has probably been answered before, but I hope you can give me some specific answers. And besides; this is what this board is here for.

Sincerely
Johannes

P.S. The ongoing WOW - Is happening right NOW

Sounds like you’re well on your way to having lucid dreams. Even if you can only recall one dream per night, you’re still ready to lucid dream.
A lot of people who can recall more than one dream a night do so because they wake up in the middle of the night right after they’ve finnished a dream. You could wake up through the night, and you’d probably remember a dream

Yeah :content:

I guess the trick is to keep trying and let it come naturally, in it’s own pace.

I’m not really frustrated about it, “statistics” say that I will probably have them eventually, if I work on it. ( do RC 's, Writing DJ and such)

I’ve been on this site for two days, and I love it already.

Yes, I think you get better in dream recall with experience.

It happens to few people, but it’s not the case for the majority. I suspect it to be due to something inconscious like fear of failure. So, don’t worry about that. Generally speaking, the more you make effort, the more results you have, like in any discipline.
