Staying lucid...

I became lucid again last night/this morning after doing a WBTB (up in 15 minuter, no reading about LD’s what so ever)…

I became lucid, then I don’t know what happened. I totally remember BEFORE getting lucid, GETTING lucid, and AFTER being lucid… But after that it’s all black.

So it’s either of these I think:

  1. I have bad dream recall and can’t remember that part??
  2. Forgot that I was lucid
  3. Appeared somewhere else, like a ‘‘setting change’’ and don’t remember my dream.

I doubt it was nr.1, but it’s still a chance.
Nr.2 sounds rong too, cause if I would have forgotten I was lucid, then why would I forget the later part of the dream?
But nr.3 in the other hand, sounds more right, I think you guys have a word for it, when you suddenly appear somewhere else… Anyhow, my question is:

If you experience the ‘‘setting change’’, are you supposed to still be lucid, or are you supposed to fall in another dream and not staying lucid?

Or maby… It was just the end of my dream, but I thought that when you are loosing lucidity (aka waking up again) try rubbing your hands or spinning, well I don’t think that. Cause I never got a chance to do this, it was never, oh no I’m waking up…

Ahh, so nice to get it again, even though it lasted for like a minute or less… But I use alot of my time a day to get these LD’s, so I hope that with time, they will become longer than just 1-2 minutes? right? Or else it’s not worth all that trouble…

Hi Lucretia88.

If you lose lucidity because of change in setting, you were already not very lucid (or what we call, low level lucidity). If you are really deeply aware that you are dreaming, the setting also wont change that much by itself. So try to become as aware as possible. This might sound weird but there’s different levels in it (you will know once you experience them). The best thing I can advise is to keep reminding yourself in the dream that you’re dreaming, and use techniques to stay in the dream. If you forget to do this, use auto-suggesiton before you sleep like “when Im lucid, I will rub hands”.

Ok, thanks man… Does the ‘‘Increase lucidity NOW’’ kind of chant come in handy in these situations or is that for something else?

Yeah it can, try and see if it works for you.

There are other ways (of course), but many people report success with that, so yeah - stick with that for now. If it doesn’t seem to help, there are always alterantive techniques .
