Staying Lucid?

I’ve been having LOTS of LDs lately, but they don’t last long. I’ve tried a number of different things to stay lucid (including rubbing hands, doing math, spinning, taking off clothing, jumping up and down, counting, demanding clarity, etc,) but nothing works. It gets pretty frustrating. In my last LD (which was last night), I went outside. I felt the dream starting to fade, so I got desparate. I wasn’t panicked, but I knew I needed to act quick. I started skipping down the sidewalk. All I could think was Just keep moving, and stay lucid!!! It worked for a while. Then I stopped… and as soon as I did, the dream ended.

How to I help this? What are some other ways to stay lucid?

I am not sure if this would work, but you keep on expecting the LD to fade away, ( it will because you expect it to) maybe as soon as you find yourself lucid even if you find yourself fading ignore it and think of a goal you want to achieve other then staying lucid. jump in the air and start flying, do anything that will make you realize that you are lucid. It seems all the other trick are all RL based (rubbing hands, math, running etc). Flying is very much lucid dreaming and might actually keep you anchored in an LD.

That would be a good idea… but I don’t know how to fly yet. I haven’t been able to find a way to take off.

I am a little baffled by that, for me that was the easiest thing to do, I just thought it, and up I went. Just jump up, and imagine yourself flying, don’t even question the “how to”. Imagine the lightness of being, feel the wind around your body, or even aim for the tree top ahead. Don’t turn it into a difficult thing. It’s your dream, why pretend it is difficult, and that you don’t know how to. You do know, just imagine it.

Hmm… I’ll try that.

Which time of the night are you having the LDs? If I wake up on the weekend, then fall asleep again and get an LD, they are usually very short.

I usually have them in the morning, right before or after I wake up. On weekends it’s from 6:00 to 10:00ish, and on weekdays I have to get up at 6:30 so its near then.

What has helped me to stay in the Lucid dream is to touch dream objects with my hands. Feel the sensation, and if you can, pick something up in the dream and hold onto it tight. You can literally hold onto the dream.

I find that there are waves of waking that you can dodge. Like I get the feeling I may wake up, so I hold onto a dream object very tight. Then I feel the wave go away and I know I don’t have to worry for a little while longer.

Just get heavily involved with the dream while maintaining that Lucid mind state, and don’t ever even think of waking up as there is no such thing as waking up to “reality”

I wonder if that is why when your vision is blurry, picking up “dreamglasses” and putting them on your nose works so well. A part of the dream is part of you then.
Wonder what happen to the glasses after I changed into a dragon? Hahah
