I have been recording dreams in my dream journal recently and a couple of days ago I had a dream that included a person I knew at primary school. This person was not important to me in anyway and I had not thought about them until I had the dream and even then I took little notice of it.
Anyway the next day I go to a party and who is there but the person from my dream I thought it was such a strange occurrence any of you guys have any stories like this?
What I think happened there was a coincidence. When you saw this person at the party, it made you remember the dream, so I guess you felt there was some kind of connection. I have had precognitive dreams before though, but there were way more detailed and accurate than seeing someone in a dream and then seeing them the next day.
About a year ago, I had a dream about Noa’s Ark. It kindof got me interested in it, so I started looking up some information about it just out of curiosity. Not that day, but the day after that, my older sister came to visit. She’s a fairly religious person, and her favorite thing is the Noa’s Ark.
I had no idea she would come to visit. I hadn’t seen her for over a year, and there was no hint or suggestion of her showing up. My dream didn’t exactly tell me that she was coming, but it did show me something that related to her pretty well.
Yeah, notice that I didn’t say I know it was a coincidence. It could have been a real precognitive dream. I’ve had them before, and sometimes I get hints of whats going to happen next when theres no real external signs during waking life.
Sorry. Bad choice of words on my part. I didn’t mean to imply right or wrong, I was a little caught up in the excitement of sharing my own experience. My overall point I was trying to make was that It may not be coincidence. Not to argue anything you said.
Hmmm… I don’t know what to think about precognitive dreams. There’s defenitely a lot of evidence about them being real, and it is hard to say that these examples, especially Gneb’s, are coincidence. On the other hand you should also think about all those dreams that were not precognitive. Maybe we should start a Lab topic on this, if it doens’t already exist, and ask people if they had any precognitive dreams and if so how strong and how many, and also ask them how many dreams they have in total in their dream journal, or as long as they can remember. This should give us a percentage that could tell us a lot about the likelyness of precognitive dreams existing.
I’m defenitely don’t saying I don’t believe in them, but I think part of me doesn’t want them to exist, because that would apply a certain degree of predestination and I strongly dislike the idea of that.
I don’t this that precognitive dreams support the existence of predestination at all. I think it has something to do with intuition and experience. Other than that… I mean, theres more to it that I don’t understand. I don’t believe in predestination at all. We are in control of our destinies.
Hmmm… I think this is a bit stronger than intuition. For example my intuition says that my favourite team, the Arizona Diamondbacks, will lose their next game, and most of the time I turn out to be right
But that is not a random event. These things are out of nothing… completely random. And apart from that I agree with you. I choose not to believe in predestination because I believe we all shape our own life… but you never know…
I have these sometimes, rarely though. My older brother moved out and never really visits. I remember having a dream of him in my room…which turned into a LD later on. When I woke up, I heard my dad open the door for him. It was kind of strange…it could just be a coincidence though.
Well yeah of course it could be coincidence but that’s why you should do some experiments and research to really find out. Then calculate some statistics and determine wether it could be coincidence.
