Two nights ago I had a dream, nothing super exciting, but it was easy to remember as it was my last dream before I woke up:
That’s the way I recorded the dream- and I went on with my day. I’m sitting down to breakfast with my girlfriend and she says “I had the most amazing dream- I dreamed I was at a Bon Jovi concert and I got to meet him and he put my arm around me and we talked. It was so clear and amazing.”
I think… No. Way. I had a dream about Bon Jovi too! I asked her what time she had her dream- she answered- right before she woke up. So we both had our dreams involving Bon Jovi at the same time- right before we woke up (we woke up at the same time, and I know my dream was within the last 40 minutes of sleep as I woke up 40 minutes before my alarm and went back to sleep).
I have never had a dream about Bon Jovi (that I remember) before this- I don’t listen to Bon Jovi, nor particularly like him. My girlfriend, on the otherhand, loves him- she has every one of his CDs and has had many dreams about him. I speculated to my girlfriend that maybe her dream influenced mine, because before I had a dream about Bon Jovi, I was just sitting on a bus on my computer.
She says that when she was a kid that once she told her brother she had dream about zombies, and he would say he did too- and they would talk about it and realize they had a very similar dream. (they had bunk beds)
I’m sure I’m not the first person to bring this up, and all of this is circumstantial evidence, but it seems my girlfriend is able to influence other people’s dreams. I don’t know if this is a specific ability that only some people have, or it is because she has very vivid dreams (she’s never had a lucid dream AFAIK). All I know is that it is making me think…
Have others had this experience? Is this common? What do you think?
