Lucidity arises from having the mind alert, there can be no other way to be lucid.
The only difference between a lucid dream and a day dream is being out of the body.
To dream, right now, while wide awake, is as simple as learning visualization and perfecting it.
To dream, right now, while wide awake, is as complicated as learning visualization and perfecting it.
Let us say you close your eyes, you see your door, and you feel your hand touch the door knob. If you perfect this, you will be able to touch the door knob, very deeply I might add, and use it to pull yourself into a dream replica of your room, immediately. It would take mere minutes.
The paradox of lucidity is that to be lucid the mind must be awake and the body must be asleep, and here we have the huge myriad of methods of induction which are good.
But to get the body asleep, without being a master at some form of meditation or something of the similar sorts, you have to go to sleep, which means you have to put the mind asleep into NREM and into delta.
Consciousness in delta is a huge accomplishment and a worthy goal.
So, here is a very simple idea :
Prepare a glass of white tea and sit it by your bedside. When you know you are going to be falling asleep soon, drink it.
When you wake up, whenever that is, get yourself another glass and drink it, and go back to sleep. Do this every time you wake up.
(or green tea)
I muse on this because I had very vivid impressions of my box of white tea while I was sleeping last night and the tea is rather calming while at the same time producing alertness of mind.
What we want is much more alpha brainwave activity and alert mind, but not so alert that we cannot sleep.
Combining white / green tea with conscious breathing such as presented in the “rhythmic breathing” thread in beyond dreaming the inhale 4 hold 2 exhale 4 hold 2 method, or count to 10 (or 7 or 5) while exhaling and no counting while inhaling and no holding at the top of inhalation will produce a strong alertness while still allowing the body to go through sleep cycles.
The goal here is to illustrate that when we are dozing, that is to say, most of the night, when we are partially awake, we roll over, and we think to ourselves about lucidity, then our mind gets lost in deep sleep, these are huge missed opportunities and to attain lucidity from any of these portals is simple if the mind is allowed to stay alert, which may be aided by persistent tea drinking and/or conscious breathing patterns.
counting the exhale to 10 creates a state where you are “asleep” while exhaling and wide awake while inhaling which is a great feeling of peace and relaxation.
the 4, 2, 4, 2 seems to keep you much more wide awake, while still going through some of the sleep cycles and HH
holding the breath seems to be a key here in staying “awake” while still dozing, in the counting exhalation you are basically holding at the end of the exhale by making it much longer (naturally, without strain) than the inhale, whereas the 4242 makes it all evened out.
i will work on these things, though i usually have multiple lucid dreams nightly what i shall master is the ability to consciously WILD whenever i want to, there is a lot to fine tune here.
