rather than 42,
perhaps there is an answer,
and the question and the answer cannot be contained within the same mind,
read Understanding Our Mind by Thich Nhat Hanh
the answer seems to YES , and the creation seems to come from desire
and the duality seems to create free will, the ability to choose from :
but the longer the answer gets the less it makes sense, because it is separated from mystery and wonder.
also if you ask a genie to grant a wish and it knows what you mean, but does it in a wrong way ,
this is not a kind genie, and i think that somehow we were taught that’s how the world works,
this cannot be what God is,
but the ability to fix attention seems to create experience
I suppose sense is what we make of it. Some people call dreams nonsense, some dreamers can find techniques to become lucid and/or dismantle significance in every dream-scene, and still others can give a zen “Yes.”
On the contrary, I think the genies are us, our egoistic desires, and they manifest our wishes “wrongly” not out of malice but simple consequence. When we wish for more enlightened things… or stop wishing and start being content or compassionate or whatever we would wish if we hadn’t realized we already had it, fixing attention like you said… then the “genies’” grants will no longer leave any room for corruption.
