Yeah, “what does that mean?” basically was a joke, because everything always “means” something. But why should it not be something? I’m staying open for teh spiritual possibilitys.
For me, the Hand RC is a DILD’ers heaven. It’s very reliable, fast, and also can be fun. I also do the same thing with feet sometimes. I just splatter it around when I see a strange occurance or randomly, and it works. I also have bad vision, (12/20 at least) and that works as an RC>
I am bad at using rc:s. I even recall dreams where the most stupid would have understood they where dreaming.
for example: I was at McDonalds and had ordered a pie or something. I looked at the clock and it was something like 03.15. then I looked away and looked back again to see how long it took to get my pie. then the clock showed 20.48 or something. My reaction was “Sataninthestreet those McDonalds- folks are slow!”
Yes, it’s a good technique, those mental RC’s have been developped many years ago by Pr Paul Tholey as a part of his critical-reflexive method, I think.
i know this one sounds crazy, but i heard someone tell me this one: put your fingers in your nose and grab the first thing you feel and pull it out, if it isnt something normally in a nose your dreaming O_o.
Just thought id shout that one out there, i generally stick with the clocks or breathing through fingers.
Exactly. Expectation is a big part of reality checks (another big part is actually questioning the reality, as opposed to just doing the check habitually). For me, looking twice at text that I don’t expect to be able to change (for example, pen on paper) doesn’t usually work, but looking at something I expect to be able to change, such as a digital clock or LCD display, almost always works.
I got a useful idea for an RC yesterday. The funny thing is, I never used RC’s before and I just did it while I was in a dream. That did lead to an LD.
Anyway, try to put your finger in the wall or other solid area. If your finger pushes through, you are dreaming. If not, try again until you’re sure that you’re awake.
merged into the BIG RC topic
If I have my Ipod with me in my dream if I pull the headphone cord out I can still hear music. Not sure if it will work everytime though
Hm… Telling the truth i dont think that it will work as RC.
Dont get me bad, it could work often, but im sure that not always. Even if it work, as low lucids, it’s able to ignore that. And music can just stop play while taking headphone out.
Also there might be problem for people that dont have ipods. At first we’d have to summon it, what is enough dreamsign to not turning it on, putting headphones, and taking them off.
Woah, im more sceptic i was thinking. I dont want to kill your enthusiasm, but there is a lot of easier dreamsigns.
Dont throw rocks at me ! Im just telling what i think about that. X_x
As a dreamsign it would fall under the category object action. Machines often don’t operate properly in dreams. It’s probably as reliable as the lightswitch check.
If you don’t have an Ipod just try unpluging your computer or somethign and seeing if its still on. Course in real life I almost always have my ipod so it makes since it would be in my dream
Haha, good idea, I’ll try unplugging my computer right now!
Personally, I like the RCs that you can make without having anything specific around. Counting fingers is my absolute favourite one, and never fails me.
Counting fingers has failed me in the past and the only method find too be absolutly fail proof is the nose pinching one because if I can always breath (come to think of it I would be frightened to have that one fail and actually not be able to breath in a dream) And its discreet so I can do it anywhere. The only problem I can think of with that oner A: Not realizing I could breath (which has never happended) or B:Thinking I am holding my nose wrong. (which has happend but always propted several more RC’s that then reavealed I was dreaming)
