Hmm… I don’t see why not. It depends though… depending on what some people believe about Spirit Guides, it might be harder to contact someone else’s, maybe because doing so would complicate things for the person with the SG…
I dreamed this today:
Schamandream
I dreamed that I was sat at table wth Klara(a girl from my class) and her friend that was a schaman. The schaman did so I fell asleep and started dreaming a LD.
Klara was in the dream (she was my girlfriend in the lucid dream) and for some reason she was mad at me and i was mad at her but I didn’t care because I knew it was a dream. I was in some sort of town but there where no people there. I think i rubbed my hands. A weird thing in this dream was that none of the RCs I tried worked, I looked at my hands but the looked normal, I looked at my clock and it showed 13:11 but it seemed to be working correct. I tried to fly in the dream, I remembered the flying tips I read on this forum and I tested falling forward and I tested to flap my arms, I succeded and started flying but I don’t remember which method it was that worked and I only flew 50 centimetres above the ground. I thought that I must remember to ask the schaman who she did this so that I can learn this simple way of inducing a LD.
I read todays kin yesterday, and when I think of this dream I think of the last line in todays kin: “I am guided by the power of Spirit”
I think spiritguides are part of your subconscious but who knows what mystery the world hides.
the only thing I remember of the schaman is that she was a schaman and that she is female but I’m not sure that she was a female. I wonder if that schaman if she could be my spirit guide?
Is there really such a thing… some dream character who approaches you and is down to guide you through your own head… If so, i want one…whats the scoop?
yep there is such a thing. My dream guide just simply showed up one day and has been there ever since.
very good question, im happy you asked it cause i want one to!! in several lucid dreams iv´e told myself that when when i turn my dreamguide will apear…or i think of a question that needs an answer and demand that someone who can answer it will apear. But so far no luck, people have appeared but they have know nothing and are simple stupid dreamcharacters (i dont know why but my DC are almost always stupid and dont know anything…i wonder what that says about me )
so please if anyone has a good method to meed this person, dreamguide, protective angel, spirit or whatever you prefer pleaes share!
You can always try going in front of a mirror, and ask questions to your own reflection, or even pull him out the mirror…
He might have wiser answer than a basic DC, since he is you…
excellent idea, ill do that in my next LD, and hopefully he is smarter…otherwise ill take offence
Hi CosmicCarrot!
(I really love your nick )
I merged your topic into the BIG SG topic, so you can find more answers to your question.
As for me, I never found a dream guide, though…
I have to keep this in my mind so it can be my next goal. At least I accomplished one thing on my To-Do list last night. (the lottery numbers thing) Maybe I’ll stand behind a door and ask for him to be on the other side. Sound good?
There is always a small knife wielding monkey in my dreams who always comes when dreams get a little rough or scary. And he can apparently read my thoughts because last time I saw him I thought “Why are you here?” And he looked at me and shrugged and I knew that meant “It’s your dream.” And I kinda laughed as he went back to sharpening his nails with one of his large knives.
I always read about people with spirit guides (not just this site) or being able to talk to a self concious (spelling) or something but I have neverh ad that, I’ll talk to my self and sometimes respond to my self but its not like someones talking to me, is there a way to find a guide? it sounds stupid but im curious.
I dont know about anybody eles but my guide just simply came to me (after about 1 year of LDing) and has been there ever since. You could try yelling really loud something along the lines of “come to me spirit guide” yelling usually shows good results in LD’s
I still haven’t found mine, but I haven’t really tried yet. Sounds cool though, eh?
There’s a BIG Spirit Guide topic.
Thank you Wolf. I’ve merged this thread into the BIG Spirit Guide topic, and deleted the link you gave, as it’s points now towards this very thread.
LOL, that’s an interesting dc. But it’s your dream so it’s your protector. Do you know where he might have come from?
i was in ld and a bretty womans voice started talking !! she said many interesting things to me !!1 i was kinda scared!!
has any 1 have exp. with dream guides???
anyone notice that dream guides interact with you and the world more…and they always make sense and seem to know your dreaming?..if your sg answers a question with “i like the sneeze cheese car”…chances are she/he is just another dc
I think this is a time in my life when I need my guides bad.
I tried calling my guides so many times in my dreams. One time when I called a guide I was floating over an ocean, someone was at my side and I sensed them turn their head to look at me. The ocean was blue everything was crystal clear. Another time I called my guide woke up in sleep paralysis and I felt someone at the side of my bed. Another time while having an OBE I called a guide and asked whoever was their their name and I got abril…hmmmm, sounds a bit funny. Don’t know if it was my guide, but I want a conversation with them and to be able to remember it.
heya,
could spirit guides be culturally specific? for those who’ve grown up with this tradition, or studied it, and thought of it, and had the concept become part of their “mental landscape” they work, but for those from a strictly christian, muslim, jewish, rationalistic, scientific, etc. frame of reference, they might not apply?
so could the function they provide/symbolize in the human mind/psyche be supplied in these “Mental landscapes” in some other way?
i was thinking that for christians, jesus/christ/son of god, might represent this dreamguide- a figure that heals, protects, guides, illuminates…
science might find some quantum theory type hypothesis- like we think that something can help us (in real life as in dreaming), and so something appears to us, to fill that need.
angels are called to mind. (positive) alien presences, images of dead loved ones, ancestors…native american guides seem popular…perhaps “civilized” “western” culture has proved such a nasty evil progression, that its citizens prefer the image of a person that lived in connection to the earth (i should say lived in cognizance of his/her connection to the earth), because this is part of what the person needs/wants, and hasn’t had provided in his or her own cultural traditions.
perhaps if one can’t find a dream guide its cause one REALLY thinks deep down that they are there own dream guides, and don’t wish to ascribe their own powers to another individuality… and if you focus energy/intent/power sufficiently it would develop its own individuality, i guess, like a wiccan can create a thoughtform to find her lost shoes.
if this simile applies, then the ethics of thoughtform creation ought to be applied to calling a dream guide, as well. when creating a thoughtform, one gives it a “mission”, and specifies that that’s all its for, and then won’t be anymore…if not, they can just dustball around getting bigger and bigger…
keeping these dangers/concerns/principles in mind, then
if one decides to conjur a spirit guide, perhaps its best to specify your requirements-
like, should it already be in existence, bored, wanting to come help you,
is it a creature of the light? evolved past all greed/evil intent?
are you creating it yourself out of all you know, have access to, been endowed with?
if so, what are its parameters…
is it possible of evil/ignorance/etc.?
could, like Terminator movies’ “Skynet”, develop its own consciousness apart from your programming, without human values/emotions/etc.?
does it have a shelf-life…a built in self-destruct…
IF so, what is its self-destruct date- when you reach a certain level of your spiritual development? death? if there’s self-awareness after death, do you want it to tag along?
if no self-destruct, any instructions for its continued existence?
anyway, i guess i could think of a hundred other specifications to consider…but you get the drift…
as you can probably tell, i’ve been thinking/pondering the whole dream guide phenoenomenon for awhile, but i’ve never really tried to get my thoughts in coherent written form before. hope my concerns/ideas were communicated well.

kore kist
I think too that they could be culturally specific. But as in every culture, you can find the notion of spirituality, it’s easy to find something which could represent a spirit guide. For instance, christian, muslim, jewish believers share the notion of angels. Moreover, a SG can just look like a godly man, like a priest, a hajji, a rabbi, etc. By the way, what is called a spirit guide (or dream guide) here, is generally a dream character who helps you in becoming lucid or in giving you good tips about your dream or real life. So they can be imagined in any way you want.
And if you’re atheist, you still can imagine that some inconscious functions of the psyche are more aware than your ego of your real needs. So, I don’t see why this concept might not apply in every case.
heya basilus,
thanx so much for your thoughtful and informative reply. the language and understanding you showed me is invaluable. i’ve been feeling trapped between strict empiralistic rationality and the next to innexpressible reality of the dream world which cannot be denied. it’s important for me to know there’s a way of conceptualizing my understanding of the mental landscape and it’s relation to this one. there are past and even ancient teachings that attempt to communicate this function or relation-but for me none perform this function as effectively (or at all effectively) as they were originally capable. they are in a different language.
i remember a joke i heard once, about a young man, who on being questioned by his ancient philosophy professor, answered “well…it’s all greek to me”. indeed, many stories, customs and practices and beliefs, and ways of expressing them through stories, and customs and practices and beliefs, are “greek” to me.
so, as i understand your argument, you believe that since in “this”/“your” culture/practice/belief system it is possible to understand the way other cultures/traditions used such methods, and then to mimic them in an “imaginary” way. i would argue that you are approaching this wisdom from a colonial viewpoint, one that denies the intelligence and wisdom of those whose images and customs you tailor to fit your own understanding of the human mind/soul and its functions, relagating their function to simple “dream characters”, as though any dream were anything like “simple” to any culture but this materialistic, reductionist, empiricism-oriented one. you seem to be telescoping these creations/characters/ functions/archetypes/images creation down to stick figures drawn onto the landscape of the imagination, and to deny the interaction and indeed, absolute inseperability of the inner and outer world, and indeed is to greatly underestimate the power of the human mind. i believe that the risk in this reductionist logic is to create/enable/enforce a schism, multiple schisms, in one’s own spirit/soul/identity/persona/intelligence, and only in acknowldgement and allegiance when surrounded by an infinity of choices and possibilities and perspectives, can we ever claim true humanity.
how can one truly function and act within the sphere of society, to the betterment of all life, if one is neither aware nor responsible for the effect their own mind has on “the living force”, as george lucas might call it.
by denying that a spirit or dream guide does not own in its own right- or is bestowed with our own- power/ energy/ imagination/creativity, is to deny any personal responsiblity in its results, and thus remain ignorant of its reward and more importantly, its ramifications, for good or ill…
of course, i suppose what you are saying is that if one in one’s mind creates the parameters of a dream guide that is actually a representation of my own psyche/knowledge, simply a drawing, a sketch, a puppet, a proxy, then one would not unwittingly invest self-awareness or direction to an entity of its own…
but then i think of all the stories/songs/books/movies/videos/ plays (ie “six characters in search of an author”) that involve characters of fiction (drawings, comics, etc) “coming to life”…and star trek episodes when the holodeck safety protocols are turned off, or some alien race makes the people real, and stuff like that…
perhaps through the voice of the collective unconscious- the artist and his/her work- we are trying to remind ourselves how much we are really capable of, and of all that we should remember to be responsible for.
i guess i’ve been thinking a lot lately about the best way to think about things…and to select which things to think about. i’m not sure why i’ve spent so much time thinking about this particular topic. i can only say it seems like the right thing to do. i’ve begun to think that one cannot think about what one ought to think about, but can only feel that certain directions of thought/neuron blazing are somehow of importance/relevance/resonance and then decide to trust that
impulse.
