Hello! I often dream in third person (though I seem to be having more first person dreams as of late), as a disembodied person watching myself. I am still myself, however. I was wondering if anyone else dreams like this, and how it impacts lucid dreaming.
Yes!! As a matter of fact I dream like that all the time when I try to VILD. Almost every single time I use VILD i acheive lucidity but it is usually of a poor quality and not even worth having (very little control, bad quality, and THIRD PERSON). This frustrated me and after digging around for a little bit someone told me that I wasn’t completely “settled” into my dream setting and that if I focused on me being that body and invisioned my self from their point of view that this would work. It worked for me sometimes. I hope this helped you
It happens a lot to me, though within the dream I don’t always have the ability to distinguish where “I” am. Sometimes I am only an observer…as though I were watching a movie play out before me. Though even in those dreams I identify a little with the main character (as whoever I am trying to direct or root for). Sometimes I see myself and sometimes I am actually seeing it all from first person view. At this point I don’t have much control over which one I am in a dream, sometimes because I’m just not aware and don’t think about it.
Whenever I third-person dream, which isn’t very often, but it happens occaisionally, I watch the scene like a movie, but I still am the character I am watching. Or, sometimes, I am a different character, but still observing what is happening, just not present.
That happens to me a lot. Sometimes i see myself in birds-eye view. But i then switches back and forth. One minute i’m looking at myself from above then another minute im back on the ground. Sometimes when i see myself in third person i am another person but at the same time myself. [/left]
