This technique provides you lucidity, no motivation needed

I struggled with motivation for about… meh… about a year or so. That was when I realized that reaching for lucidity while putting in too much effort in is like trying to run while flexing all your muscles; it slows you down.

You have to take it easy. I bought a watch, set it to go off every half hour during the day, and Reality Checked whenever it went off. Before I started, I did some mental preparation by telling myself I was going to habitually do this until it carried over into my dreams as a habit, and I had to do was wait. I was just going to let it be; the more effort I would try to put forth the less my subconscious would put forth. Well… it worked.

About a month or so after I started I got SEVEN lucid dreams in one night! Yes, seven! Do not expect anything to happen, do not do anything of that sort. Just focus on your objective without putting any stress or frustration on your head about it. Whatever you put into something is what you will get out of it. It’s a universal law.

Please give me feedback in the comments telling me if it worked for you, alright? Happy dreaming!

edited out the all caps :siiw:

Actually this method does require motivation, because it’s your motivation that made you buy a watch and set it to go off every 30 minutes in the first place.

But yes, you are right - putting in too much effort into lucid dreaming is a bit of a roadblock, but I think the important thing here is to feel excited, without feeling frustrated about it.
And it’s easier to look forward to something if you take it easy and let it develop at its own pace.

Yes, yes. that it is… that it is.

I completely agree with this! At one point I realized that if I woke up in the morning after no LD’s and I felt frustrated, I felt that due to having the wrong mindset before bed, and that was why I didn’t get lucid (or a big contribution). So the trick was going to bed with a mindset that wouldn’t get me frustrated if I didn’t get lucid… It’s hard to put into words, but it makes a lot of sense to me

mattias: That’s a good tip, I never thought about that.
Can you explain more about how you induce such a mindset?
