tiredness before going to sleep vs dream recall

I noticed something.
A couple of days ago, I was completely beat. Those situations you lay in your bed with your clothes, when you simply can’t move at all and when you close your eyes, you open them 7 hours later, is someone familiar with this? If so, how is your DR like on those nights. When I had this night, I opened my eyes as if I closed them a second ago, though knowing that a few hours has passed, but I couldnt remember any dreams that night, anything at all. It was as if my consciousness had no breaks between closing and opening my eyes (Illusion…)
Someone feel like sharing his opinion/thoughts?

Well, in September of 2006 I worked in a building panel factory for a grand three days (Wed, Thu, Fri). It was EXTREMELY hard physical labor and I’ve never been that sore (I’m also not very strong physically, so…).

When I got home in the evening, I’d have no energy left AT ALL. I’d eat, spend one or two hours doing some stuff for myself, take a shower and then go to bed. Normally I take at least 30-45 minutes to fall asleep, even when tired. Not that time. I fell asleep within one or two minutes and woke up, like you said, nine hours later that felt like three seconds.

I haven’t had that lately, though, so I can’t really say how it affects DR. I’d guess if you’re that exhausted, you’re just too tired to remember dreams well. I don’t have good recall after skipping a night’s sleep, for example.

Wow, i get this all the time, in fact i just finished

Ya, i know what you mean. One minute I’m lying there listening to music, getting really tired. Then I put the mp3 player down and the next thing i know It’s like later in the day, but I think it’s the next morning with no dream recall.

Possible that it’s because you’re not in REM sleep.

This happens when I take naps. I lie in bed, just thinking random stuff, then when I want to get up I cant move. If I come in SP it takes 8 hours for me to wake :sigh:

I haven’t had that “tired feeling” in a while, but I have noticed that my dream recall is better when I get a real good night’s sleep after an average day, compared to that of waking up early or late and feeling wasted

But maybe the body is more focused on restoring your energy than processing thoughts when your tired like that, so you simply just rest while the SC takes a back seat to regeneration during the night

Just my thoughts

I don’t think that’s what he’s talking about. :peek:

That depends how you see on it. I lay down on bed, close my eyes and get up 10 hours later

Thanks for all the replies
Yes, working class hero, is right, thats not what Im talking about Ghostie.
Anyways,
I think its due to the fact your body is “crashing” which makes it enter sleep without keeping in mind, what you want. Sort of rushing the whole thing. I don’t get this tired often, next time I will, Ill definitely, try and make use of it.
Let you know how it went…
Have fun all, any more comments are of course welcome

I did so last night, after NOT sleeping at all from sunday to monday I had the longest and hardest day of the week at university, classes from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, so when I finally got back to my apartment at 9:30, extremely tired, too tired to even walk. I dropped in bed, hoping to feel less tired so I could take a shower and then drop dead in bed, but I fell asleep for half hour, then went for the shower and landed on bed to fall asleep inmediatly. I woke up at usual time and had absolutely no recall at all, and I also was still tired.

Now Im with you

Thats not often I have that much tiredness, is it the tiredness greater than the tiredness you have when youre AFR

AFR = Away From Reality?
If so, I guess it depends how far are u …
Im talking about being tired to the extent in which it is almost impossible for you to lie down and not fall asleep. Really hard efforts to keep yourself awake with every second that goes on… Get me?
The kind of tired that you just want to lie in your bed and when you do, you wake up after a couple of hours before you realize whats going on.
Hmmm
I really want to feel that way again now.
Im curious ^

So mush tiredness. I have hallucinations and when I am AFR and get out of it and lay down I open my eyes first after 10 hours. DO I need TO BE more CLEAR :wolfbite:

That’s a phenomenon known as Sleep Debt.

An average person needs 8 hours of sleep a day. If you, say, skip one day of sleep during a week, you’ve missed out on 8 hours. Even if you sleep normally the next day, you still have a ‘debt’ from when you skipped a night. It takes a while before that debt is paid. Unlike money though, you don’t have to make up the full debt as far as I know. I don’t know the specifics and there’s a lot of debate on the subject, so I won’t get into it.

If I skip one night, then just sleep relatively well for a few days or a week (maybe an hour or two extra on the weekend), I’m fine again. My recall may suffer a little bit as well (usually only the day after, though).

That’s an interesting concept Svenshinhan. I know It’s true because I’m always changing my sleep schedule.

Very interesting indeed although you cannot be sure.
There are many opinions on the subject, one cannot know exactly how the body (and mind) functions in those manners.
I didn’t know about that concept relation to DR, will give it some thought.
Thanks for the info sven
Have a nice one
