Hey!
I have seen couple of movies this past month. I’ll put my personal opinions of them here. If any of you guys have some too(opinions)… share
X-Men 2
-This movie was cool. Good thing it had the same characters as the 1st part! Well there was a weird part in the movie. All the X-Men were on the ship and Magnito and Mistique were looking at Rogue. She asked what they were looking at and then they told her that they were looking at her hair and laughing at it(her bangs turned white after the battle in the 1st part ). What the hell is that all about ? Making fun of her hair???
-Why did Professor Jean kill herself? We all know that she could have stopped the water and let that blue guy transport her somewhere safe. Why didn’t she?
The Core
-This movie was kool too. Some funny parts were when the man at the beginning of the movie(the buisiness man) collapses on the glass desk and splaters his face on it and when all those pigions crashed into the ground, people and stores/buildings.
-The weird part in the movie was when that machine enters a layer of ‘nothingness’ and then lands on a piece of land made of Crystals. Later, the part where the machine broke through to get to the crystal land, leeks lava. What are crystals doing in the centre of the core? That didnt make sence to me. Those were the only two parts that confused me. I don’t really think they did a good job at recreating that part of the core.
I really enjoyed X2 and I also wondered that same about jean not being rescued…hmm…oh well…im guessing she’s coming back in the next one…
Heres what I thought about a movie I saw…
PhoneBooth
Ok, I dont want to reveal much…but this a pretty good movie. A different style, with the way they set up the story…and its cool how the sniper plays with the guys mind… The movie also leave you wondering if he will surviuve or not…or will he kill someone in his places…
All and all a good movie…with a little twist at the end…
In X-Men 2 Jean had to die so she could come back as the Phoenix, one of the best parts of X-Men! But you’re right, there was no obvious point to why she would have killed herself since she could have easily escaped. But I guess they have to do things like that to make the story work out.
Well in the original cartoon show there’s a whole “Phoenix Saga” and it’s about how Jean sacrifices her life for the team and the Phoenix enters her body right when she dies, made a copy of her and put the real Jean in a protected cocoon thing at the bottom of the ocean.
That’s why you see the phoenix under the water at the very end of the movie I guess.
There is a lot more details to the story but I don’t know all of it. It’s all from the cartoon show mainly, and the movies are following the storyline overall.
whoah, double post… sorry about that. i’d post a movie review on here so the post wasn’t wasted… but i haven’t seen a recent movie besides X-Men 2 in a while. So…
These are my 10 most favorite movies/movie series:
-Matrix 2 & 3 (I have a feeling they’re gonna be in this list)
-Matrix
-Waking Life
-Mafia
-Spaceballs
-Robin Hood: Men In Tights
-Naked Gun Series
-Hotshots Series
-Lord Of The Rings Trilogy
-Star Wars Series
I would recommend those to be seen by anyone who hasn’t seen them, and for the ones I listed that aren’t out yet… you should see them cause I know they’re going to be good.
The Matrix:Reloded
One word I would use to describe this movie would have to be “AweSomE” !!! I thought the special affects were great! Without them the movie would of been crap. The part were Trinity speeds her bike on the highway was kool! She was going insanely fast !! When the movie was shot…she really actually rode that bike that fast…there were no computer things in that (amazing). It also took them 3 or 4 months to shoot it ! The part where Neo took the bullet out of Trinity’s body and then she said “Now we’re even”…was… not good. What i mean is: if u have seen the 1st part, u saw her ‘sort’ of saving his life, but all she really did was kiss him, tell him she loved him and that he has to be “the one” since she would fall in love with “the one”. In the 2nd part, Neo truly saves Trinity’s life by taking out her BuLleT. So when she says what she says…its not really right. The 2 events dont really compare. That’s what i think.
What are your thoughts of this movie?
P.S To all of those who are interested…the 3rd part of the Matrix comes
out in november.
Event Horizon
This was a great movie! Im told that its pretty old…seems new to me! Its scary…but not that scary. I liked all the blody parts of the movie( i say that a movie that doesnt have blod in it then its not a movie…unless its one of those “love” movies); some were blodier than others but all of them were alright. Some parts were kind of discusting(u get the wrong idea of what ppl are really doing ). The overall movie was great.
Waking Life
I would categorize this movie as “different”; its a kind of catroon. Its about this guy that is dreaming and has a bunch of FAs. He meets all of these ppl in his dream and learns all kinds of things. Its kinda hard to understand what those ppl say…but like my friend said…if u watch it a couple of times…u eventually get it. I thought it was an interesting movie because it was about dreaming and things related to that; i also learned some things from this movie.
I really liked Event Horizon. Yeah, it’s pretty old (I saw it several years ago), but fortunately it’s not the kind of movie that relies on new-age special effects to stay interesting. The story was great, and Sam Neil was absolutely amazing when he … erm … ‘changed’. (Trying not to spoil it). I wouldn’t say it was scary, but it does have some good old fashion ‘shock’ moments.
To say that Waking Life is anything less than utterly remarkable would be an insult. The dialog was absolutely entrancing, and covers pretty much every view of modern philosophy, worded in such a way that it just makes total sense. I watched this movie with a bowl of popcorn in my hand, and when it was over, the popcorn was still there, uneaten. I had mysteriously lost 2 hours of my life.
The acting (if you can call it that) was superb, and it honestly seemed like the various characters were actually just speaking their mind, instead of reading from a script after a mere few hours of rehearsal. We get to hear from absolutely all kinds of characters, some insightful and curious, others demonstrating the adversities of life though enraged ramblings.
I just opened up a copy of the script that I keep on my drive to look for some quotes to post here. That was 25 minutes ago. There’s something about the script that just draws me in, and I’m sure it will you too. Not to mention it features lucid dreaming, so it’s a great way to introduce LDs to a friend if (like me) you can’t confront them directly.
I honestly can’t paste anything from the movie that does it justice. The amazing visuals help to explain what a particular character is talking about, even if it’s barely noticeable. Do yourself a favor, go out of your way to get hold of this movie. These days you just don’t find many truly inspirational movies like this.
well I’ll just mention the greates movie ever made:
KAzAAM!!!
Shaq offer ones of the greatest prerformances in a movie since Mark Hamil in Star wars. The kid beats out Hallie Joe Osmond(6th sense, AI) any day of the week. The plot is genious and well conveyed
Here is a movie review showing it in the top #1 spot of somebodys top 20 movies ever
Gee am I the only one that appreciates low budget independant films?
Just kidding theres only one that I really like, Ginger Snaps. That gem cost less than 3 million cdn. Not to mention that its coming out with an equally low budget independant prequel and sequel. Did I mention that the 2nd Unit Director lives in the same city as me? I’m not a stalker I just learned about the budget, and the sequel/prequel and the director from an equally low budget award show; the Spaceys.
