Trouble falling asleep after recall

Hello, all. I’m gradually building up my recall (after a setback while I was sick), but I’m noticing a problem. I tend to take quite a while to fall back asleep after awakening from dreams. If I just roll over and don’t make an attempt at recall like people normally do, I can fall asleep just fine. But the act of trying to remember dreams and writing them down seems to wake me up too much. I often take longer to fall back asleep than I take at night. This is especially problematic for me because I have to wake up at 6:00 every morning; I don’t have the option of simply sleeping in to make up for the lost time.

I’m wondering if any of you have encountered this difficulty and can perhaps offer some suggestions for returning to sleep more rapidly. Thanks in advance!

Hmm, I dunno how you do it and how hard you have to concentrate to remember your dreams, but on the writing down part, I usually just keep a paper next to my bed, so instead of writing in my dream journal, I just scribble down single words on the paper, to remind me of my dreams when I wake up in the morning. It only takes seconds that way and I don’t even have to turn on the lights for that, so I can go back to sleep in a matter of seconds if I’d want to.

yeh I have that problem, which is the reason why I sleep really deeply. Which is also the reason why I can go through nights with very limited sleep. I can have up to a few hours sleep because I sleep so deeply. But if I get woken, or I wake up, and do something, I get too awake, and find that I’m stuck having to stay up until the next time i go to bed

How about, when you wake up, you just lay there and let the dream roll around in your mind a bit? If you’re the kind of person who’s able to remember in the morning even after going back to sleep, then great. If not, do like Olesia said and write keywords on a notebook near your bed. The key is to not move around very much. I’ve been doing the exact same thing for a week or two now, and it seems to work rather well.

I dont write my dream while on bed and I don’t think I would remember more if I would do it.

If its occupying your mind so much , just write them when you awake or at the end of the days when you can think about it all the day and remember more.
