Trouble remembering dreams.

Hi guys,

I started my first topic not so long ago about starting my quest for lucidity. I’ve had my dream journal next to my bed for at least four days now and unfortunately I’m really struggling to remember my dreams! This is literally when I wake up… are there any tips you guys can give me to help conquer this problem please?

Thanks a lot in advance. :content:

Hello, welcome back

Well, you may struggle in the beginning, but gets better over time.
The important thing is to write ANYTHING you can remember, be it a fragment of a dream, or a feeling/thought you had.

After that, your mind will remember more and more.
Also, when you wake up, try not to jump out of your bed, try to stay calm and get your thoughts together.
That way you might remember things better and getting up quickly may ruin parts of a dream.

Next time you go to sleep, try doing a mantra.
That is repeating to yourself (in this case): ‘‘I will remember my dreams when I wake up’’ until you fall asleep.
These things can sometimes help a lot.

SO, basically, write in your DJ, stay consistent and that should do the trick.
Good luck

Adding to what Lord Antares says, when you wake up don’t jump out of bed. In fact, don’t move in the slightest, don’t even open your eyes. Stay perfectly still and just think back on what you dreamed about. If you can’t remember anything, sit there for a bit and just try to remember casually and usually dreams will start coming back slowly.

Something else you can try to get you kick-started is to wake yourself up in the middle of a rem-cycle. (Yes, that means getting up in the middle of the night) That way it will still be fresh in your head as you are jolted out of it. Then do as said above and try writing it down.

Hope this helps you out, remember to always keep a dream journal as they work wonders. (Or in my case, I have an audio-recording device I just speak to as it requires less movement and I can keep it fresh in my head longer. Then I just write it down when I get out of bed)

Again thank you very much for the speedy replies! I’ll give these things a shot, and again I’ll keep everyone posted! It is indeed a slow process, but well worth it in the end I hear!

hey i’m also experiencing the same problems but ever since i made my DJ , my dream recall became a bit better… i think. by the way, i have a question, is it safe to say that i can remember a dream every night now even though there are only 4 or 5 entries in my DJ? i wanna try start doing RC’s in my dreams . thx in advance

another thing, why can’t i realize that I’m dreaming even though some of them have so many dream signs but i still can’t realize it, is it because my mind is to focused on just remembering them or what?

And sorry for posting this question here haha.
