whenever i try the MILD method i just stay awake waiting for the dream to come, i want it so much that i get too excited and can never fall asleep. ust when i’m about to fall asleep i jolt back awake from the excitement, should i try another method?
Try to relax when you’re doing MILD (or before you do the practice). Concentrate on the previous dream scenes, hold them firmly in your mind, but don’t overdo it. You know excitement will prevent you from falling asleep, so keep your mind concentrated on the images only and repeat your wish to become lucid. That’s all. Try not to drift away into excitement about how cool it will be and all that. In order to experience your cool dream, you first need to get there. So yeah, really try to keep calm and firmly practice MILD. Usually it will get better with practice. In the beginning, everyone is often too excited about it
In case you really have a problem with it, you might indeed try another method. If you can’t practice MILD while falling asleep, you might do it during the day as some kind of dream incubation. For instance, if you have some spare time left, try to visualize a previous dream or a dream scene you absolutely wish to experience, concentrate on it and firmly repeat to yourself that you WILL encounter this scene in a dream soon and become lucid as a result. Convince yourself of the fact that you WILL become lucid then. If you like, you can combine it with RCs.
