There really aren’t straight foward questions, but I tried to make them that way. Please try to help anyways since I am having trouble with both
Did a real WBTB for the first time, and got lucid for the second time, but just like my last lucid, as soon as I realized I was dreaming everything slowly faded to black. I think I woke up, but I am not sure since I heard that sometimes you just dream you wake up when this happens. Although when I supposedly woke up, I thought to myself “at least I became lucid” and then went back to sleep, although I barely opened my eyes and never surveyed my surroundings. Ideas?
Before I went to sleep during my WBTB, I tried to WILD since I want to at least do it once although I am having trouble with it, and actually got HI for the first time, it was just some blobs or orange color, but I was extremely proud I actually got past the vibrations. The issue with WILD that I have is every time something happens (Vibrations, Spinning, anything) my breathing starts getting fast, I suddenly have this huge urge to swallow, or my heart starts going crazy. Any suggestions? This also happened to me when I woke up on the same night and tried to DEILD. I don’t feel like im scared, in fact I am actually very intrigued and want to experience it.
The answer to your first question is pretty straightforward. You need to train yourself to do an RC every single time you wake up (or dream you wake up). I recommend the nose RC as you don’t even have to open your eyes if you’re feeling a bit lazy and it’s pretty darn reliable. Now, to avoid that situation in the first place you can try a few things to keep from losing the dream. Rub your hands at the first sign of the dream fading and try to focus on something. If you lose vision altogether you could try spinning or falling backwards. Above all, keep calm, active and stimulated.
You second question in a bit more complicated as these experiences change from person to person. Just stay calm and try not to think about it. With WILD in general a lot of the information out there tends to get in the way. For one, swallowing doesn’t really interrupt it. It’s a natural function that when left to your SC doesn’t bother you. It’s thinking about swallowing that is the problem, but you probably would have never though of it if no one had said anything in the first place .
Get in a comfortable position, don’t move around more than you have to, and keep your mind active. As you start to fall asleep, your breathing can sometimes feel off as your SC takes it over. Some people describe it as suffocating or really fast breathing. This in turns causes you to panic (if ever so lightly) which can increase your heart rate. Just take it in stride and relax. Remember, you have to actually fall asleep for WILD to work
Yeah thats what I thought, this was my second time becoming lucid, and the same thing happened. Last time I believe I tried spinning, this time I looked at my hands for some reason.
Lol that swallowing thing is so true, but yeah it never bothers me until that point where I panic. But with the breathing thing, I feel like all of a sudden I am out of breath and the short relaxed breaths I was doing just a second before are not enough and I need to take much bigger breaths.
Thank you very much!
EDIT: Just woke up from my WBTB, I wasn’t able to WILD, I think I woke up too much because it was hard to go to sleep afterward. But I did have a lengthy DILD! Just like the two times before everything went black as soon as I realized I was dreaming, tried to rub my hands, and the sensation felt real! it was amazing! But I stayed calm when everything was black, and just re imagined the scene I was in, and it reappeared. Went off a explored, and soon was greeted by more blackness. Tried a different scene, like a beach, and almost got it, except the landscape turned really weird and I can’t remember anything after that. Thank you!
Sometimes even just attempting WILD helps because it gets you thinking about dreams in general. The more you think about dreams, the more like the LD. And don’t worry, an actual WILD will come along soon enough.
