um, weird things goin on with me here

ok, this all started about 3-4 years ago, in my sophmore year of high school, which at the time i was really getting into “energy work” and lucid dreaming. i began seeing these black or white shapes of people in my periferal vision. then “it” would move to the side of the eye that they were on, if “it” came in on the left, would move out of my vision towards the left. this made me move my head to see what or who it was, but upon seeing the area at which it came from, there was nothing.

as the years moved on it became more frequent. at first, maybe only 1 time “it” would show up about every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. but by my senior year of high school, about 1+ times a week. then it just stopped all togeather in my first year of collage even though i was still into lucid dreaming and “energy work” alot. now in my second year of collage, it returned but different. now i have only seen “them” black. i refer to them because i see it as people/animals/insects and its moved in on my periferal vision for seeing the insects, like seeing something move on the floor and it not being there.

well thats all the info i got, anybody got any ideas? i dont know if i am hallucinating or not but hey, who knows

I see them every once in a while to. Haven’t had in in a while though, and never as frequent as you have. It’s harmless though, right? Sorry I only added to the confusion, but I felt like sharing my experiences. :shy:

And i guess you have done no drugs??

I know some few people experience something similar and call the phenomenia “shadow people” or “shadow beings”

(EDIT) I suggest you do a search for that on google, but dont believe everything that is said. But there is quite a few people who experience something similar.

nope, never done drugs.

Somtimes this is caused by the optic nerve. In each of our eyes there is a blind spot. our brain compensates for this, so instead of seeing a blank space our brain fills it in with what it “thinks” should be there. It sees everything (colors, patterns, ect) around it and makes a guess about what would be there.

Another theory about “shadow people” i remember is dust. plain simple dust. if you try to look at them they move with your eye (stay in the same place in your vision) because a particle has atted itself to the eyeball. Being so close to your lens, the dust looks bigger and distorted. when you blink, tears wash it away.

I see them many times. Like you I wondered what they were. So a few years ago, i decided to look into the subject. These were thee two most widely used reasons i remember reading for this.

I only see those shadows when i am very sleep deprived. It might be some “background noise” from the eye, which we doesn’t usually notice?

I think the reason would be that your brain is simply not processing visual information 100% correctly. The more sleep deprivated you are, the more errors your brain makes. I have read that the vision centre is one of the first parts of your brain to be affected by sleep deprivation.

that would make sense about the sleep deprevation, but this happens when i get alot of sleep, normal sleep, or sleep deprevation. and with the eye moving thing also, it moving with your eye, they appear stay for a second or whatever then move, without me moving my eyes. this shadow person theory seems interesting though

That is true however there is another effect, if you are sleep deprived the dreaming process kicks in when you are still awake and this might cause weird hallucinations to happen. I guess this is likely to happen first at the edges of our vision.

xetrov might be right there. i been sleep deprived before and had some hallucinations, but it might just be that i was simply passing out alot.

Get some sleep and eat your vegetables, and the Shadow People will leave you alone.

check, check, erm not quite yet

hmmmm, now that i think about it, i did eat really bad at collage last year, which is when the “shadow people” didnt appear. and this year im eating alot better and they do appear again, some corilation maybe?

Well diet can effect your energy levels which can effect your sleep which can effect your perception…I have solved the puzzle

thnx much :gni:

or maybe it’s an aura of some sort

I noticed that phenomenon. My mother has it too. It’s always located at the peripheral vision limit. It’s like a little dark shadow “running” on the floor, so I suppose it’s always located at the bottom of the vision too.

It’s always in the same part of the vision field, so it can’t be dust. The eye blind spot theory is more interesting, but I think it’s not located at the right place.
