Vampirism45's new WBTB technique

Having often done MILD and WILD with WBTB, I’ve realized it isn’t those techniques that give you lucidity. Its the WBTB itself that gives you the lucidity in the dream. I have found that WBTB is far more powerful than most people think. MILD used with WBTB isn’t the technique that lets you recognize the dream-signs; rather it is the WBTB itself. Using the Hypnagogic Imagery variation of WILD doesn’t let you enter a dream consciously, rather, I’ve found that you enter the dream unconsciously and then become lucid when you suddenly decide to perform a reality check. Using only WBTB, I’ve realized that it gives an absolute, 100% chance of having a lucid dream. WILD and MILD tend to injure that chance. Therefore, after testing WBTB many times, I have decided to create a new WBTB technique that is extremely effective.
Here are the steps:
1) Set an alarm or drink some water before bed so that you wake up 7 1/2 hours after falling asleep
2) After 7 1/2 hours, get out of bed, and do anything you need to do (Use the bathroom, get a quick drink of water etc.)
3) Go back to bed after 5 minutes have passed
4) Relax very deeply and slow down your breathing
5) Begin thinking of illogical things, such as Man-eating cats with lasers
6) Shift your attention from one illogical image to another every couple of seconds
7) You should now be seeing vivid Hypnagogic Imagery. Focus on it very passively. You should fall unconscious after awhile and enter a dream.
8) You should either recognize a Dream Sign or perform a reality check and become lucid
9) If you happen to immediately lose the dream, imagine yourself back in the dream until you reenter it

And that’s all. Let me know how well this technique goes, as I want to make sure I’m not the only one its working for. Also, does anyone have any suggestions for a new name for the technique? “Vampirism45’s new WBTB technique” is too lengthy of a name.

Ah, nice to see that I’m not the only one that uses WBTB solely for LDs. I don’t always get lucid with it, but it works a lot better than anything else for me, and I always have an interesting dream with it. I’ll try this variation and see how it does for me. For a name, try something simple like Hypnagogic WBTB, or Visual WBTB, after all, this is just WBTB + imagery.

Hmm, sounds quite interesting, and looks much easier than the “standard” WBTB method.
I don´t know if I try this method this night, maybe I will test it Sundaynight ; )

How long I have to imagine this illogical things? 10 minutes or longer? And what I have to do if I fail and fall asleep or something similar?

You don’t have to stay awake during the method. It works just as well after you fall asleep. You imagine illogical things until the imagery begins appearing in front of your eyes without you having to think about anything (this is called Hypnagogic Imagery). You should be able to see when this starts happening.

I think I will try it this night, I dont want to wait for sunday :confused:

I made one adjustment to your technique: woke up after 5 hours instead of 7.5, because falling asleep again after 7.5 hours of sleep would be hard for me. Anyways, it didn’t work for me. The imagine part made it hard for me to fall asleep, so I gave it up.
Will try it again when I come home from my vacation. :smile:
