I don’t remember the dream 100% perfectly, but I think there’s symbolism in what I do remember. I’ve bolded things I’m 100% sure have some meaning.
The dream starts with me having an IRL friend at my house. I suggest we go to a nearby theater to see a movie, and he agrees. When we get to the theater, we find that it’s showing four different movies. Three of the movies are R-rated, and I don’t want to watch them with my friend because I’m afraid his parents will find out (they are very strict - he’s not allowed to see R-rated movies even though he’s 16. This never stops us from watching them at my house IRL.) Anyway, I noticed the fourth movie was a PG-13 action film, so we settled on that.
After the movie, we go to his uncle’s house (he’s mentioned his uncle before, but I’ve never seen the uncle). In my dream, his uncle had a daughter about 7-8 years old, and his uncle’s wife (my friend’s never mentioned him having a daughter or wife) had called us to see the daughter’s newest project. Apparently, the girl likes to bake, so we are taken into a back room that looks like a small warehouse to see her newest dish. Sitting on a metal bench are five giant cookies, each the size and shape of one of us - there was a cookie of me, of the aunt, of the uncle, of the daughter, and of my friend. The aunt “poses” them on a bench, and takes a picture. We leave the cookies behind, to be served later.
At this point my friend and I start playing a Playstation 2 game, one with fighting robots and the like. Suddenly the game and the Playstation transform, the Playstation becoming a Gameboy and the game that was in it becoming a Gameboy cartridge. I turn the new system on, and a character comes onscreen and says something to the effect of: “We will now be able to help you in any of your dreams. Take us with you.” (I didn’t get lucidity from this, even though it was a perfect chance. I should also note, I believe this will be able to help me in later dreams.)
I suddenly find myself at the entrance to a mine. I learn that terrorists have taken several of the miners hostage, and I somehow got the idea to rescue them even though I’m completely weaponless. I turn a corner and my am drawn directly to a miner who was sitting against the wall, bleeding badly. I rush over to him, but he says he’s dying and that it’s too late. He says “If you’re saving the other miners, you should know they might be afraid. They might mistake you for-” and dies. Looking up at the wall, I see a crude drawing in brown spraypaint I hadn’t noticed before: an evil-looking man with his face hidden, brandishing a massive knife. I instinctively realize that this is what he was saying they might mistake me for, and realize that he’s after me. I run to my home to try to get away.
I’m at home and it’s night, when I hear the door being broken down. I realize it’s him and panic, but suddenly remember the Gameboy. I learn that it can be used as a time machine - push a button and a portal takes you to any time you want. I have such a hard time getting it out and finding the buttons that the killer has almost reached me, so I just press the button without setting a time.
When I exit the portal, I realize that I’m 300 years in the future. I look out the window and see that the future is almost the same. The only major difference is that it’s too dark, even for nighttime. Streetlights, stars, moonlight, and any other light that hits Earth is much weaker than it should be - streetlights only lighten up an area of 2 or 3 yards. Outside the glow of the streetlights, everything is almost pitch-black. I can see a few shadows of short, muscular, monstrous looking things in tattered clothes. They attack anybody that they see.I turn on some lights in the house so I can at least see a little, watch the strange monsters, then wake up.
Sure, some parts of this dream probably just mean I play too many videogames . But I’m fairly sure there’s deeper meaning in this; especially my extreme caution at the theater, the strange cookie-people, and a future that’s, literally, very dark.
