Lately I’ve been a little deprived of sleep and I have been having sort of strange lucid dreams. I can feel my mind awake, and I can feel myself thinking and saying the things that are in the dream, but I don’t realize it is a dream. It’s like I am stuck in the dreamworld unknowing that it really is just a dream.
They were all pretty cool, albeit a little depressing. In one I built up so much fear and frustration that things weren’t going right I decided to kill myself. I couldn’t think properly and I thought I felt so absent minded I just had to end it. I’m not going to forget that one anytime soon.
I also have another, I enjoyed, which dealt with my lack of a normal childhood and my strong desire to have one. It was a very deep and memorable experience.
So as you can see, these dreams teach me a little about my subconcious almost everytime and I enjoy them. Is there a special term for them? How do I trigger them without depriving myself of sleep?
^ That’s right. If you don’t realize you’re in a dream, you’re not lucid.
I don’t know what to say about these dreams, but it’s a well-known fact that dreams can blow up your secret wishes, regrets, and emotions into full-scale scenarios. And lack of sleep will do strange things to your dreamworld.
I know that. I must have forgotten to state it in my post. They are just as good though, in my opinion. I experience them first hand (not by recollection later) with my almost full attention, but the dreamworld directs me instead of me controlling what it’s about. I just hope that sometime soon I will be able to face greater personal problems in them. The only problem is when I begin to wonder why things are so strange (Which also makes me want do start my reality checks). Things get a little grim.
In all seriousness the majority of my dreams are like you described. I participate in dream events but am unaware that it is a dream. The remainder are remembered upon awakening and I only have a fuzzy recollection of them.
It sounds like your dreams are like a subconscious theatre of sorts. You should count yourself lucky that you’re able to take something away with real-life value, the majority of my dreams are seemingly random albeit interesting.
If you feel that your consciousness or awareness are as good as IRL, those dreams are called “conscious dreams”. Yet this term is not very in use on the forum.
I’ve had such dreams. And sometimes, this happens during FA’s too. I even have the feeling that some people can’t really distinguish between those dreams and RL, so that some of them believe that what they saw really happened.
I confuse these dreams with real life too. Sometimes, I do such mundane things in it I don’t even suspect I just dreamt.
My favorite part of these concious normal dreams (seems to be the consensus) is how dead people feel. You feel no soul at all, just blankness. In some of my concious dreams I kept wondering why it felt like no one was there.
That happens to me quite often. What i think, happens, but its not an LD. I know what you mean. To be honest, i have no idea how to do it without sleep depravation, but i do know what a thrill it can be. Maybe the best way to trigger them would be to become used to them, thus not too surprised when it happens. However, i dunno just how effective that will be…
