very very bad dream recall

Last dream I remember was like one year ago. And I don’t remember all of it, just few fragments. Usually when I finally remember something it’s just fragment like ‘i walk through the forest, i look at the ground and i see leafs everywhere’, not what’s exactly happening. I remember that i had any dream every 4 or 6 months or a year. Rather not more often. Normally I just go to sleep, nothing happens, I wake up -_-. I read some topics on dream recall here but they all advise to write down dreams in dream journal… ok, how? I mean, I remember something so rarely… should I just write old dreams (like from year ago, 1,5 year ago, etc) and hope that this would make me remember something again? Also, do I have to get up after every dream (after i’ll finally start remembering some recent ones) or can i make myself write them all in the morning? I rather would prefer to not wake up few times in the night, i think that i could have problems with going back to sleep doing it this way.

you dream alot while you sleep whenever you transition from light to deep to REM or whatever. Its better to write down your dream right after you have it because when you have your next dream you end up mostly erasing the previous one from your memory (how much depends on how vivid/lucid it may have been) also try waking youself up earlier or later just something at a different time (my alarms set to 6 30 and i almost alwayse wake up in a dream.

From what i understand, you jump out of bed as soon as who wake up.
Correct me if I am wrong.

If so IS the case, then here is a suggestion on what you could do:

REMAIN in bed, and try not to move.
Focus on…well, remembering the dream.

As for actually trying to remember: I personally cant help you TOO much on the subject.

It is generally much like trying to remember a memory of something you just forgot…

off topic: LOVE YOUR NAME. :3

I used to be like this too. Just keep a dream journal, and every time you wake up, spend like 5 mins just trying to remember fragments and write them down before you forget them. It’s also a good thing to keep an alarm to wake you up in the middle of a dream, that way it’s more likely that you will remember it.

The more you write down your dreams, the more you will remember them. Just remember that.

Yeah, jumping out of bed is very bad for dream recall.
When you wake up, stay in the bed a bit and you will start remembering some fragments of the dream.

And I noticed you use an alarm clock.
Alarm clocks are also bad for dream recall(it’s strange no one mentioned it so far)

Try waking up by suggestions. It works for most of the people and me too.

Well, on top of all that was said here, Nya, are you trying auto suggestion? That is, are you telling your before going to sleep “I will remember my dreams”/“I will wake up after my first dream”/Anything?

If you do, it might considerably increase your recall, though you need to find the mantra that works for you. You might also want to think of dreaming when you lay in bed, so that when the HI starts you’ll be already ready to remember your dreams.

I have that problem too.I recently started keeping DJ and have only 1 dream (1 month time) and it was false awakening. I had LD for 0.5 sec and the the FA occured,
and i didn’t have the habit to RC after awakening so i just remember the dream.
Since then the closest i got to recall was “i had a dream,i think so,sort of,but what was it about?” Lol

Btw. my first post. Yay, i’m a part of community now

-i am using autosuggestion
-after reading this will start to do awareness exercises

Pleasant dreaming.
