Sometimes this happens to me, usually in spans of time… As soon as I hit the pillow and close my eyes, I’m immediately bombarded with voices in my head. Usually they’re loud and usually there’s more than one. This bothers me so much I immediately open my eyes and lift up my head. Then sometimes when I try to sleep again I hear it and have to wake up.
I have had the same (or at least very similar problem). It happened twice that I woke up in the middle of the night, and heard several, possibly hundreds of voices in my head. I would open my eyes, as if in pain, then cringe, because it was all soo loud.
After a few moments or so, I would get so annoyed, I’d mentally yelled louder then all of them (which was loud), in a booming, powerful voice “SHUT UP!!”
Then there would be silence, and a much quieter, calmer “thank you”.
I don’t know if this is exactly the same. I think mine was more cause by being in a still dream-like mindset (which also allowed me to yell without having any doubts that it wouldn’t work). Yours might just be caused by a loud imagination.
As far as quieting your mind in general (if just yelling doesn’t work), I find it’s easiest for me to visualize an area dark nothingness, then expand that to fill your entire mind. It doesn’t always work completely, but it usually at least helps.
Going along with Ysim, perhaps you should look up different forms of meditation. I’m not sure which would be best, but why not mess around with different techniques? I used to have slightly similar problems with being so indulged in mental images. (modified a meditation I found, somewhere, years ago. Now, it’s purely a habit.)
I think you should do what Ysim says. It sounds like it would work. It’s too bad I didn’t know what to do when I thought I heard doors closing and voices. But, eventully it would just go away. And it only lasted for about a week.
That’s auditory HH. It’s the equivalent of HI, but for the hearing. If you’re interested in LD’ing (and I suppose you are ) it’s interesting cause it shows that you’re entering very fast the hypnagogic state. So you are perhaps gifted in WILD’ing. There was a topic “The List of the WILD sounds” (or something like that) on the forum, generally people hear all this while they are deeply relaxed.
That’s what I thought it might be, but it came on really fast so I wasn’t sure. I’m not really gifted though. I’ve tried WILD before and failed. This, however, is just some special occurance that happens to me sometimes.
I can ignore it or keep waking up until it eventually stops happening. Quieting my mind is also a good idea, but usually I’m too drowsy to think about it when this happens. XD Thanks for the suggestions.
