Waking Dream

Hey! I have a REALLY weird dream experience, and I was wondering if it had happened to anyone else before. First off, I’ll say that I’d set my alarm for 3am to WBTB, then after I’d surrounded myself with lucid dreaming, I attempted WILD. By then it was about four in the morning. I started seeing very vivid HIs, of a long hallway with a foresty door at the end. I pulled myself into the dream, but I was still very much awake. The dream was, as follows (I don’t have my dream journal with my so it isn’t quite exact):

I walked down a long dark hallway with a forest-like door at the end. A mechanical wooden owl was perched above it. I grabbed for the doorknob and opened, pulling myself into the dream. There was another foresty semi-circle room, with five oddly-colored doors. I approached the first door, and the mechanical wooden owl (my dream guide) flew to the left of it and said, “This door leads to the Playhouse.” It flew to the left of the second door and said, “This door leads to a past life.” It repeated the same process. The third and fourth doors both led to two of my heart’s desires, and the fifth lead to the dreamworld (which struck me as odd, because THIS was the dreamworld as well).

I went to the second door, a past life, and opened it. I was surrounded by a gray, muddy, cloudy world. I instinctively knew it was England, perhaps in the middle ages. I asked a DC to be sure, and he confirmed it. I heard talk in the village of a queen, but I was frightened of the place, so I requested my dream guide if I could leave. He allowed me to, and I was back in the five-doored room.

I went to the fifth door, the dreamscape. This led me to an islandy world, which resembled a place I’d seen before. A huge reddish planet, what I knew to be Jupiter, and her two moons covered up much of the sunset sky. I lay on the sand on the beach. I heard a noise from beside me, and realized I was not alone. Unlike the forknowledge I had in all other realms of the dream, I didn’t realize a person was beside me, and I didn’t know who he was or what he was doing. He was very handsome. We went out in the water, we seemed to be very close. I asked him what his name was an he was confused, but I covered it by saying. “I just wanted to hear you say it.” He said his name was Michael, and I didn’t quite hear his last name. Then, when we were back on the beach again, he appeared in a tuxedo and I in a beautiful white dress, so I looked like a different person. A clergy came and married us. The dream began to fade and my owl guide told me it was time to leave. I asked my dream guide several more questions as I faded back to the five-doored room, and then, when I was fully there, I opened my eyes and left the dream.

The entire time I knew I was awake, yet I was dreaming…it was quite different from daydreaming, much more real and less distractions (I couldn’t easily be pulled out of it). Is this normal? Can anyone explain? Thanks!

Without being specific, I would say that the lines between awake and dreaming get a bit foggier at that sort of time.

Well, I have had experiences before where I am laying done I have not fallen into sleep yet but instead I transitioned myself into a conscious meditative type of state where I could start to see images that turned into other worlds and scenarios.

I’d say it was normal, but these types of experiences are very unique. I’d grasp it and keep it as if it were an item that you always wanted but couldn’t have because it was in the dream world.

I don’t really know if you where in a meditative type of state (without meditating, because that has happened to me before) or if you had fallen asleep aware which can lead you into lucid dreaming.

But, I like your dream/experience. The playhouse theme kind of reminds me of when I used to dream about running away and the safest reclusive area was a playhouse or place where imagination could be anything and very real.
