Waking up from LDs into Nightmare World

The title says it. I’ve gotten to the point where I spontaneously become lucid in regular dreams, and those are usually pretty normal, but when they end, I have a false awakening into a very disturbing version of my house. This one happened this morning, and was by far the longest.

When the regular LD ended, I woke up into a non-lucid false awakening. I felt myself moving like I was about to WILD, and stayed still so I’d get a twofer LD. I felt myself falling, and opened my eyes. I was still in my room, but the ceiling was stretching out hundreds of feet above me. This disturbed me, for some reason, and I closed my eyes again. I never felt myself land, which makes me pretty sure it was a false awakening, and I never actually woke up. Anyway, I got up, and was immediately greeted by a pseudo-visible demon that always accosts me when I have these dreams. By pseudo-visible, I mean it’s not really transparent, but it’s not all there and it’s not invisible. It’s really hard to describe. This time i got a good look at it. It was short, weedy, and bald, with long pointy ears. It kind of looked like a Moria goblin, I guess. It ran at me and tried to tackle me, so I punched it in the face and it ran away. I had a chance to look around my room, and good lord it was weird. An overwhelming sense of dread in the air, skeletal faces imprinted on the walls and door, everything was very Silent Hill. I tried to speak, to maybe banish whatever was in the dream, but I couldn’t talk. I finally managed to mumble “Lucidity times 10”, which did nothing. I was almost too afraid of what I’d see to leave my room, but I opened the door and walked out. I fumbled for the light switch but couldn’t find it, and just kept walking forward. The feeling of dread was still palpable in the air, and I vaguely remember hearing weird noises in the distance. A room about ten feet down the hall was lit, however, and the door was open. I wanted to go in, just to have a safe haven in which to try to find a way to fix the house. The room was my grandpa’s room, but there was a blanket on the chair in there, with a large bulk very obviously under the blanket. I started to step in, and as my body passed the threshold the light started to turn brown and fade. I decided I didn’t want to know what would happen if I stepped all the way through, so I went on to the living room. I don’t remember much about the living room, but I finally gave up trying to deal with what was going on, and started slapping myself to wake myself up. I didn’t feel anything though, and the thought crossed my mind that I’d be stuck in the dream world forever, but I finally shook my head and woke up to a non-frightening false awakening.

I’m wondering, does anyone else have this problem? Is there something I can do to banish it? I can’t talk, I’ve tried, no sound comes out.

Thanks.

Hi, i’m new here & i haven’t intro’d myself elsewhere, but i read your post & had to reply.
I often get characters that look like CGI in my NLDs, and am attacked by them as i’m waking up. I’ve never worked out if i’ve had a non-lucid false awakening, or if i’m really awake and battling these little demons in my bedroom.

Sounds nuts? Well, last week i stubbed my toe kicking out at a ‘pencil-dog’, which fled. Then i made a brew and carried on with my day. It’s like i wake up, but th dream characters ‘come through’ with me, from my dreams, into my waking bedroom, and i’m still interacting with them.

I am terrified of them, so i attack, screaming and shouting, and they disappear.
I too would love to get a handle on this one.

:help:

Well, nightmares are mostly problems surfacing in dreams. By doing that, instead of facing the problem, you are just dismissing it and running away form it.
It’s pretty much given that, until you solve what’s behind it, it will continue tormetning you. Just stand there, firm, you know it’s a dream, your dream moreover, and you are in control, you are invincible, so the creature is pretty much under your power, until you turn your back from it at least. If you can’t ask, just look, it will probably reveal itself, so you can actively look for a solution/conclusion. Be firm in your intention, and stay there until the problem gets to an end. Act appropiately, and you should make it.
Good luck.

Welcome nexys! I only saw your post after I posted myself.
My point of view about it is, if they’re a part of your life, a part of yourself in fact, why not accept, or better, befriend them? Nightmares often turn into very pleasant dreams if you face them, and it could work the same with your creatures. Just take a few minutes off when you wake up next time, and try interacting with them, see where this takes you :content:

Thanks for your quick reply, Tosxychor, and wise advice.

Interacting with nightmare figures has certainly worked during nightmares; but this feels like a more primeval fear, making it more difficult to work with. I have very little conscious control of my mind at these times.
It’s like i’ve fled out of a dream from from these creatures, escaped into th waking world, and they’ve followed me! (Surely they’re not allowed to do that)
I’ve never kicked out at a dog in all my waking life - i’m a Buddhist! But i was so scared…

No excuse - i will meditate on accepting th fear, and standing my ground. That way i’m more likely to remember to do it. These waking nightmares occur most often now during th Wake Back to Bed practice. I’ll try sprinkling some wisdom and compassion in there ~ who knows what may appear.

Thanks again, i’ll keep you posted.
And good luck with yours, Muffles.

i find that, whenever confronted with a demon in my dreamscape, they are some of the most horrifying things ive seen before.
my own home turns into a place thats almost like you said, silent hill.
now, nexys.
you subconscious is a part of you.
you enter it during lucid dreams, and anything you encounter is fully allowed to follow you into your normal life.
your subconscious is a strange thing, but what you see in your LD’s is as much a reality as what you see in WL, even that pencil-dog.
i believe, that anything willing to harm you, is not friendly, and should be taken care of, so as to never harm you again, but i can see where you wouldnt want that to happen, now there are different ways to deal with somthing, like theyve said, you can befriend it, but these things act like something from a scary movie, if you had entered you grandfathers room, the lights woulve most likely turned off, the door shut suddenly behind you, you wouldve heard a moving noise, like something getting out of its bed, you woulve tried to say, “grandpa?” and nothing wouldve come out, and then you wouldve been atacked by some demon form of your grandpa, or even some freakin zombie-mutant thing.
trust me, it works like that alot of the time.

the worst part is, this actually couold follow you back into WL.
i know of a few people who have the same symptoms you do, and have gone insane…luckily, you have people who can give you advice
what i would do is pull out a gun, a flashlight, head back into that place, and shoot up anything that tries to kill me, thats the easy way out, but with someone who doesent like violence, you could befriend it, or turn it into something else.
there are ways to get rid of something in a dream, without harming it.
you should see some of the magic topics in the forums, they tell you how to create, and use spells in lucid dreams, like surround your enemy in a bubble and watch him slowly float away, or simply freeze them in place, or you could push them away with a flick or your wrist, there are infinate ways to get rid of them.
and muffles, ive seen something like your talking about before, thier not really there, but you can see them, almost like this transparent, but you can see the outline of them moving.

sorry for the freakin long post >_>
